Help!!!!!
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v3...sFall08169.jpg
All right guys....I need your help and opinion. I started putting my tree up and I don't have all the ornaments on it yet, I'm afraid it's going to look to "blah and bland". Do I need to put a lot of ornaments on it or more colors or what. My theme is red and gold, but do I need to add another color to this? BTW, don't look at my house, it's a wreck trying to get all this stuff together. |
Re: Help!!!!!
Not my area of expertise. I'd say less is best though. This is my wife's strong hand. Is that a fake tree?

Re: Help!!!!!
Those two shoes on the coffee table would add a nice touch!:D
J/K I know what it is like trying to get decorations together & the mess it can create. You do have a beautiful home! I think it is better left up to PO or Renda or some of the other fine ladies who have some sense of decor! I like the white tree!:santathumb |
Re: Help!!!!!
I feel let down somehow, that the Coonskinner's would have a fake tree...........What next? Do we find out that Bro. Coonskinner is a member of PETA? :ursofunny:ursofunny:ursofunny

J/K Less is more, but with x-mas tress more may be better, not sure. If all fails, get the kids to do it, so you blame them if it get strange looks...;) |

First let me say that you look very nice in the picture! :santathumb You can read, read, read all sorts of decorating material and everyone sounds like the authority. When it's all said and done you will find that everyone has their own opinion and their own particular taste. Follow yours. A tree like yours - rule of thumb - three colors is the max. I wouldn't incorporate another color into the scheme. Lights are put on first, largest ornaments next and garland last. Now for the red garland, since you asked. LOL! I like your choice, but it is dominating the tree and not accenting the tree. If you want to spread it out that big, you will have to go with bigger ornaments. Like this tree: http://i51.photobucket.com/albums/f3...tree_large.jpg Other ways to drape the garland: http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a1/...on/treeone.jpg http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a1/...n/treefour.jpg http://www.christmasmagazine.com/img...dingTree01.jpg I prefer draping a garland like yours in this way: http://www.penielpillows.com/mm5/gra...mas%20Tree.JPG You can also drape your garland in this way, which isn't my preference, but the top of the tree is the focal point as you need to tie the tree together with some type of topper so that it isn't left hanging and visible. I'm sure you intended to do that anyway since you said you weren't finished with the tree. http://www.christmasmagazine.com/img/deco/treePink.jpg Hope that helps! |
Re: Help!!!!!
I think the garland is the issue- It is overpowering the tree- drape it in bunches and put more ornaments on it. By the way you look great in the picture-Love the red shoes.

Re: Help!!!!!
I forgot about this picture. Though she's using a feather boa, the draping effect would be the same. I like this one.
Your tree is fuller and will look nicer in the end, IMO. http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_hnw3PeeJcS...0/DSC01703.JPG http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_hnw3PeeJcS...0/DSC01704.JPG http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_hnw3PeeJcS...0/DSC01705.JPG |
