Two Questions From My Five Year Old

My five yr old, Alivia has asked two impromptu questions recently - both were asked as she was being tucked in bed about about a week apart.

First she asked; "Mom, if Jesus prays to God, does that mean there are two Gods?? It does'nt make 'sentence'."

Then about a week later she asked; "Why did Jesus make the devil? I would not have done that!"

Interesting questions.

My wife said, " I am thinking we have a little theologian on our hands!"

i'm thinking I'd be interested in knowing how she answered those questions. GOOD questions - especially for a five year old.

Keith asked last week (during church!), if Adam and Eve had kids and their family was the only one here on earth, then who did their kids marry and have kids with? Go ahead, answer that one. Geesh!

And when it finally dawns on him that Cain and Abel had children by their sisters, he will go "Ewwwwwww........":jolly

I told him (during church) that that is what happened.

And that was exactly his reaction. OUT LOUD! :jolly:jolly:jolly

A little girl at our church told her mom that she wanted to die, so she could be with Jesus.

Wow, that would be a deep one too. I guess it come up if a family member dies though.

Not sure, but I don't think that was the case, here. Just her perfectly logical conclusion from the teachings. At some point, we're supposed to short out that logic circuit, it seems.

I would think it becomes a matter of balance in the childs teaching/learning diet. It is essential that they know we will be with Christ after this life, yet it's no less important they know the keys to life and death belong in the hands of God alone.

Yep. That was how she was counseled, essentially. Still. Can't argue with her logic.
