GAZA CITY (CNN) -- Israeli airstrikes pounded targets in Gaza on Saturday, killing at least 155 people, Palestinian medical sources said. An Israeli army spokeswoman said her country is ready to continue the attacks "as long as it takes."

Palestinian medical sources said at least 250 people had been wounded in the air raids, and the militant group Hamas vowed to retaliate.

The strikes followed several days of rocket attacks from Gaza into Israel.

Hamas police stations were hit, killing many senior police commanders, a reporter in Gaza said.

Maj. Gen. Tawfeeq Al-Jaber, a senior commander in the Hamas police force, was killed, as was Ismail Jabari, who headed the special police force in Gaza, Palestinian sources said.

Israeli Maj. Avital Leibovich told CNN the military began the attacks "in order to preserve the security situation in Israel..."

THe exclamation mark. But this is just a reflection to my own thinking about the issues over there. I took what you typed in the way that it fancied my thinking.


I am not blindly Pro-Israel, but I generally see them making many attempts at peace, but the various Palestinian groups want destruction.


Honestly, it would be very eery for them to have a "peace" declaration over there that actually meant something.

I only forsee this getting worse. I think it will get to the point that people might actually tell Israel to do what it they need to. When that happens watch out. Then it is going to get REALLY ugly. JMHO

This has been going on for years and each and every time Israel gets the finger pointed at them by the international community

But the finger pointing don't matter, its the "diplomatic response". We have always "encouraged restraint". Israel will listen for a little while then do what it needs to do and we will send them more military supplies to replenish what was used. Works for me. If it were us taking rocket fire from Mexico dare I say that there would be a glass parking lot from Laredo down to Monterrey.

Israel has new leadership since its "restrained" incursion into Lebanon to fight Humas, it looks as if this new leader is pushing back in a more decisive manner. Good for him.!
