Okay...explain this to me like I'm a 2 yr. old

If this has been discussed/explained somewhere else, please point me in the right direction, but in the words of the great Vinnie Barbarino, "I am SO confused!!"

For all who own/watch TV, Feb. 17 marks the change to digital. Now Comcast, our cable provider, one day says that we don't need to do a thing, that the change is automatic, and another day tells us that we need a converter box.

That without it, we will lose PBS, and everything else (we have limited cable) except ABC, NBC, and CBS.

So we sent off for the $40 coupons, went to the store to pick up the converters, and was told that cable will not work with the converter.

Called Comcast, and they said we don't need the converters at all...

Does anyone know, and can you explain it all in childlike terms?!

Comcast - you do not need the converter box.

Now, go get a cookie and don't spill your milk!

Do you have Comcast digital cable? Do you already have a box, or is your cable connected directly to your television?

If you have Comcast Cable, you’re ready already for the Digital Transition.
If all your TVs are currently connected to Comcast, you don't have to worry about a thing. When February 17, 2009 rolls around, you can just sit back, relax and keep watching your favorite shows.

My Mom is waiting for her coupon to come in to buy another box, because the first one quit working.

Let me know how cheap and you would have to mail it to La. But she may be interested.

This is the official response, but when you talk to those dudes on the phone, it's a different story.

One guy told us we would need the cable box, but not the converter...it's crazy.
