Tech gurus........another question

:snowing

Sorry about the lack of details right now, but I'm on my way out. Quickly, my church wants to start running a computer operated projector during church for announcements, songs, scriptures, and teaching. What are some musts? Are wireless projectors good? Our PC is about 80 feet from where the projector will be. I've heard of eworship. Is that good? What do you guys use? You may have told me already, but please refresh my memory. :blush

Eworship is excellent. There's a Bible mod that you can use to follow the preacher along with providing texts on screen rather quickly.

One thing to avoid is the 100 foot spans of VGA cables that some folks think are necessary. They're not. I see too many displays in churches and in businesses that have the gamma green tint to them. That's caused by an overheating VGA cable.

Wireless is good if you get the best equipment but you need to test it in your site. Some churches have cell phone towers on the premises or nearby. I've had experience with that causing interference issues.

The projector is basically just another networked device and should be Ethernet compatible.

Thanks Pelathias,

So really if we run the cat5 cable to the main PC then we are good to go for that PC? Great! We liked this model....http://base0.googlehosted.com/base_m...191b40fe&hl=en

Anything else?

Well, we use the 100 foot VGA without problems. We also run three spot monitors on the platform for the worship team and the projector using a VGA amp. I even have an A&B switch at the pulpit to take control from the sound booth and project from my laptop. This stuff isn't rocket science. But do some research and shopping. Check www.monoprice.com for the best deals on cables, amps or splitters.

As far as software goes, we use SundayPlus but I won't say it's any better than the others out there. I'd try to download demo versions of several and then choose what's best for you.

Ok, so I am getting there, but I have a installation tech question and hope someone has the answer! And thanks for the link by the way. The prices look great.

From my soundroom PC to the front is 75 feet. I'm thinking I can run the VGA cable up to there, then connect to a splitter/amp such as this one http://images.monoprice.com/productm...ages/35691.jpg because we want to run 2 projectors. From the splitter to the projectors will be another 40 feet for each unit. Will this work? I was told (by a cable salesman mind you) that the amp needs to be near the PC.
