Circuit City closing

Circuit City (CC) has reached a deal to be fully liquidated after failing to find a buyer or a refinancing deal.
The electronics retailer reached an agreement with liquidators to sell the merchandise in its 567 domestic stores

“Regrettably for the more than 30,000 employees of Circuit City and our loyal customers, we were unable to reach an agreement with our creditors and lenders to structure a going-concern transaction in the limited timeframe available, and so this is the only possible path for our company."

People with Circuit City warranties might be out of options.

This is what happens when you bail out the lenders????

Reminds me of a parable

Mat 18:23 Therefore the kingdom of Heaven has been compared to a certain king who desired to make an accounting with his servants.
Mat 18:24 And when he had begun to count, one was brought to him who owed him ten thousand talents.
Mat 18:25 But as he had nothing to pay, his lord commanded that he, and his wife and children, and all that he had, be sold, and payment be made.
Mat 18:26 Then the servant fell down and worshiped him, saying, Lord, have patience with me and I will pay you all.
Mat 18:27 Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion and released him and forgave him the debt.
Mat 18:28 But the same servant went out and found one of his fellow servants who owed him a hundred denarii. And he laid hands on him and took him by the throat, saying, Pay me what you owe.
Mat 18:29 And his fellow servant fell down at his feet and begged him, saying, Have patience with me and I will pay you all.
Mat 18:30 And he would not, but went and cast him into prison until he should pay the debt.
Mat 18:31 So when his fellow servants saw what was done, they were very sorry. And they came and told their lord all that was done.
Mat 18:32 Then his lord, after he had called him, said to him, O wicked servant, I forgave you all that debt because you begged me.
Mat 18:33 Should you not also have pitied your fellow servant, even as I had pity on you?
Mat 18:34 And his lord was angry, and delivered him to the tormentors until he should pay all that was due to him.
Mat 18:35 So likewise shall My heavenly Father do also to you, unless each one of you from your hearts forgive his brother their trespasses.

Their mistake was trying to go up against Best Buy.

Let's see as they sit in a board meeting.

Where ever there is a Best Buy.

We will build connected to them.

So folks will leave the Best Buy stores come right next store.

Meet less qualitifed people and find for the most part most of the same products or less quality stuff.

Then Best Buy will put our a beat any store advertised price by 5% and Circuit City goes out of Business.

I went into Circuit city one time ovrr the years and felt like I was in an outlet store...

My problem with Circuit City was always that whatever you wanted to purchase, you had to pay for in the area the item came from, then they would take you up to the front where you would have to wait until someone would FINALLY bring it to the conveyor belt. Almost every single time, it turned into a huge deal taking much, much longer than it needed to.

Hmmm...the CC here was not next door to BB. I love outlet stores...a lot of people do.

Where I am Fry's does better than BB in my opinion. BB carries only the most expensive high end stuff and if that is not what you want you are out of luck

At BB you couldn't pay for it in that area...that is what I hated, but they dragged your butt to a special area where you had to wait for someone go come and fill out reams of paper work then make you write a check or hand them your card, then walk away and several minutes later come back and tell you whether or not all that waiting was worth while.

But what store just let's you take expensive stuff straight to check out?

BTW we have 4 Applebee's close their door in this county Friday...and I read Black Angus is filing

We went to CC tonight. Most everything in the store is 10% off. That's not much considering that they're closing their doors. I asked the sales person if they knew when yet. She said the help has all been given their 60 day notice. Maybe we can look for deeper discounts in a month or so? Guess we'll wait and see.

I remember when CompUSA closed here...I expected HUGE savings but their discounted prices were about the same as or higher than BBs regular price...lame

They will probably see if they can get the public for all they are worth and then sell out the rest to a liquidater

If you read what they have up on their website and read a little between the lines, that's exactly the impression that I got.

I needed a copy of Microsoft Office Home and Student for Keith's computer so he could do homework on it (Word and Power Point specifically). It cost me $89 at CC, I saw it at Office Max (our next stop) for $99. In my book, that's not much savings. But then again, I never expect Microsoft to approve giving anything away.
