Obama: Quit Listening to Rush Limbaugh

"You can't just listen to Rush Limbaugh and get things done," he told top GOP leaders, whom he had invited to the White House to discuss his nearly $1 trillion stimulus package.

While discussing the stimulus package with top lawmakers in the White House's Roosevelt Room, President Obama shot down a critic with a simple message.

"I won," he said, according to aides who were briefed on the meeting. "I will trump you on that."

The response was to the objection by Rep. Eric Cantor (R-Va.) to the president's proposal to increase benefits for low-income workers who don't owe federal income taxes.

Sadly, on this one Obama seems to be going the socialist route. He hasn't endorsed tax relief for the majority of Americans but here's he's giving a handout to the ACORN crowd.

The ACORN crowd handed him the election. Here in Ohio it is hard to tell how many people voted for Barack Obama and how many times they voted. Obama has been associated with ACORN. Actually, I think in the original stimulus package voted on a couple months ago, money was included for ACORN (under some of their "front" names).

Yes, and then there's $100's of millions in the current stimulus bill for contraceptives. I'm not really an anti-contraceptive type, how's that going to stimulate the economy? If they work and people take full advantage of it I can only see a slowing down of the economy.

Yes, and there is also help for laid off workers to help them keep their health insurance and extended unemployment benefits for the same. And all this during one of the worst economic times in the last 100 years. Geez, that's horrible.

Why is everybody so up in arms about giving money to people who don't pay taxes? That's been going on for years! It's nothing new! Earned income tax credits and the like aren't new! Obama didn't invent those. They've been around since the Reagan years.

It's a good idea to give poor people help. It's good Bible sense and it's good economic sense because unlike fat cat banks and rich people who put the money under their pillow (so to speak) the poor people can't afford to save it and thus will actually spend the money almost immediately, which helps create economic activity, which is what the economy needs right now.

As for socialism, under whose administration did the recent trend toward this so-called 'socialism' begin? I believe the man is in Crawford, TX right now. He and Paulson gave billions away in corporate welfare and began the process of nationalizing the banking industry. If I read Amos correctly, this isn't a righteous policy.

He's right, people should stop listening to Rush Limbaugh. He and his type (on both sides of the issues) are bad for the process as they agitate, distort, and create wedge issues that divide people rather than help people come to a reasonable consensus.

Jas 1:27 Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.

James tells that true religion is to help the widow and orphan in their affliction.......
Let's note a few things here:

Widows and Orphans - That would be women and children

In their affliction - that not keeping them needing a handout, but helping them thought their trouble.

2Th 3:8 Neither did we eat any man's bread for nought; but wrought with labour and travail night and day, that we might not be chargeable to any of you:
2Th 3:9 Not because we have not power, but to make ourselves an ensample unto you to follow us.
2Th 3:10 For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat.
2Th 3:11 For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.
2Th 3:12 Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work, and eat their own bread.
2Th 3:13 But ye, brethren, be not weary in well doing.

I think that there are those in Government that want to keep people on welfare and in poverty, promising all the while to get them out, because as long as they will not take care of themselves and rely on the government, the elected retain their power.

Rush rules! I'm not able to listen everyday, but I love the program.
His large staff with their access to many sources keep me informed!!!
Where else can you get the facts ?

Not the network national news, that's for sure. Now, they have a bias,,,,,

You're seriuosly saying that you interprete the Bible to say that we're not supposed to help the poor, that we shouldn't help people that have a need? You're reasoning seems to be more political than biblical, especially considering your final comments.

What I'm saying is that we should help the poor in their affliction, but we need to try and get them over the affliction where they can help themselves.

The bible does say that if you want to eat; work. Not a thing wrong with that is there? Can poor folks work? In the old testament they were commanded to leave the corners unharvested for the poor, but the poor had to go work for themselves to gather the food, the farmer did not bring it to them, cook it for them, etc., etc. etc., .......

When you "help" the poor by giving them there needs without them having to work for it you keep them in the state of being poor. How does that help them in the long run.

By the way I have been "poor" at times but I worked my way out of it. :thumbsup

Exactly! The New Orleans Katrina situation is a perfect example of keeping people on welfare. When they have to do for themselves they cannot. That is sad.

Give a man a fish and he eats for a day. Teach him to fish and he eats for life.
