Has AFF Changed Your Beliefs?

It seems hard to believe that some say AFF has caused others to change what they believe. Do you feel members here are too weakminded and have allowed debate and varying ideas to sway them?

Have you change?

No. :) The process of discussing a matter helps me refine my own beliefs, but I haven't changed my mind on anything just because someone on AFF "said so."

Overall, my belief system is the same as it was before I ever joined FCF. The only thing that has changed for me is that I'm more tolerant of other folks' views.

I’ve changed my stand on various things but I don’t think I’ve changed my beliefs. For example, I was raised in an ultra-conservative church that was very rigid and legalistic. I stood by those teachings for years, embracing them and teaching them. However, in my heart of hearts I was far more moderate. When I came to AFF I met Apostolics who were full of faith and love for Jesus, but who were far more open minded and less legalistic. I began to feel comfortable in allowing my true beliefs come to the surface so my stands changed somewhat…but deep down my beliefs never really did. AFF gave me the format needed to cut through what I was taught so that I could truly articulate what I really believed. For this I am thankful. I’m far more “spiritual” now and less “religious”. However, it’s caused me some significant stress in my community of faith because I’m far more moderate than most Apostolic churches around me. So in a lot of ways I’m a man without a home.

Yes,

What I have held sacred for years is now questionable.

All this time I believed I knew the truth, I had it figured out and no one could convince me other wise.

However, I have seen reality and embraced what I now know to be fact without a doubt.

The forum has help me realize that I am not the only one who believes like I do. I have learned about things that I would have never known otherwise.

This is how I view AFF - not changing beliefs, but allowing those that haven't had a place to discuss different issues to feel comfortable discussing them.

I haven't changed my beliefs. I have learned to try and be bit nicer to all of you who are so wrong, however. http://www.apostolicfriendsforum.com...cons/icon7.gif

What's wrong with changing one's beliefs? Why do you call it "weakminded", as opposed to, say, "teachable" or "open minded"?
