P On Me and Tell Me It's Rain

The NY Post cartoon article is nothing short of a throw back to an old racist idea that blacks are monkeys!

It was clear to me as soon as I read it.

I read Col Allen's response, but it is not sufficient, not at all.

It is clear to me that he wanted to get the NY Post more attention-- and he did by playing a race card that is reminiscent some of our country's darker days.

I'd care more, but truth is I've got my own life issues.

Just let it be known that I for one will not let these journalistic punks write off their offense as some broad criticism of the stimulus package.

There were other ways to present their pessimism. They chose to be racist.

Often when Conservatives criticize, there are perceived racial undertones. Sometimes, I think some folks read too much into them.

However, this is NOT one of those situations.

It was in poor taste because of what had happened to the chimp.

Sorry don't see the connection, The stimulas bill was written by Congress not the President. Seems like a weak link to me.

More than that Renda.

It really was a throw back to our uglier days.

You know what I said about how northerners in some ways are worse in their racism than many southerners? Well the proof is in the pudding-- or maybe this guy is some backwoods transplant that is just trying to make a name for himself in the big city.

People have the right to do whatever they want to make a name for themselves.

But whenever "Conservatives" somehow align themselves with the NY Post, or whenever the NY Post caters to Conservative thought and Conservatives don't distance themselves, the Conservative cause will be linked with this mindless racism.

Good point, EXCEPT that it has Obama's name all over it, it is his document that he worked hard to build a consensus on.

When referred to in the media, it is not referred to a Congress' stimulus plan as much as it is referred to as the Obama stimulus plan.

Mind you if it is successful or if it is a massive failure, President Obama will be "responsible".

The link is clear to me, I'm not that sensitive when it comes to race stuff.

But this is so BLATANT, it is enraging.

I think I need to go to the gym.

The New York Post should have NEVER allowed that to be published!

Seems like we, as a nation, will never learn to live together in harmony. Things like this don't help at all!

Baron, you may be able to argue that the use of the monkey was pure happenstance (I'm not sure that I buy it), but the stimulus bill was for all intents and purposes Obama's plan. It has been universally called that...much like the previous one was viewed as Bush's. Of course, many people in the administration were involved in the initial plan and then it was tweaked by Congress, but the person who's name will be attached to this plan for better or worse will be Obama. It was he who presented the idea to the American people as a necessity.
