T.F. Tenney at the Journey (Mark Johnston's)
Sunday March 8th for 2 services. Wonder what the old time pentecostals that don't like the progressive pastors such as MJ will say. Interesting

What is a progressive pastor why would the old time pentecostals not like him What does he believe

Re: T.F. Tenney at the Journey (Mark Johnston's)
Some might be better at explaining this, but basically how I see it is that the progressive ones are looked down on and often times called out for not being like the old school. Kinda like not preaching that standards are heaven or hell--for one example. MJ was called out by a minister in this movement in a letter to Bro. Haney and others--if I am not mistaken. At one time the letter was posted here on AFF.
Basically the OTP resist ANY change of ANY sort and the progressives promote change and movement with in the movement. |
Re: T.F. Tenney at the Journey (Mark Johnston's)
So to be clear, are old time preachers those who say we should keep holiness? And progressives preachers that teach that holiness is not for today? Just checking.

Re: T.F. Tenney at the Journey (Mark Johnston's)
I am WELL aware of Bro. Tenney's stance. There are a lot of hard liners that try to claim him to "thier side" from what I have heard.
OTP-in this case-generally are those that make 'standards' heaven or hell. Holiness is another issue. Both sides agree we need Holiness. But Holiness and standards are not the samething. There is NO such thing as Holiness standards. It is Holiness only. Inward Holiness is more important than outward apperance. Hope this cleared it up |
Re: T.F. Tenney at the Journey (Mark Johnston's)
T.F. Tenney is pretty "progressive" himself, isn't he?
He is on the board of his son's organization and has co-authored at least one book with him. He appeared on TBN. He has preached in at least one Trinity church. He ignores the rules of the UPC about getting permission from a local UPC pastor before preaching at a church in that local pastor's city. |

Not really but oh well :thumbsup I love Brother Tenney. Not sure if I am progressive or otp though
