Anna Nicole Smith's former boyfriend Larry Birkhead said Tuesday that DNA tests have proven he is the father of her infant daughter.


Birkhead emerged from a closed court hearing to announce the results. Smith's companion, Howard K. Stern, has been caring for the girl, Dannielynn, who could inherit a fortune in the wake of her mother's February death.

After the hearing, Stern said he would not fight for custody.

An expert in genetic evidence said the DNA analysis has proven Birkhead is Dannielynn's father. Dr. Michael Baird, who analyzed the results of a March 21 DNA test, announced the results outside the court. "Essentially, he's the biological father," Baird said.

A jubilant Birkhead said "My baby's going to be coming home pretty soon."

I don't know much about him, but I hope he's a good father.

Has anyone noticed how newborns look soooooo much like their fathers when they are born? Even the girls.

I have observed this through the years. I like to think this is God's plan. There's no fooling 'Daddy' if the baby is not really his. :winkgrin

Of course this isn't true in EVERY case...but for the most part...There usually seems to be more of Daddy's looks in the first couple days than there is Mommy's.

I predicted who the daddy was from the first time I saw the baby. :winkgrin

I've always said the daughter takes after the dad's side and the son looks more like the mother!

My son looks like my brother and my daughter looks exactly like her dad's mom.

Neither of my children looked like their father when they were born.

Neither one of them ever have looked like him. My daughter has his brown eyes, and that's it. She looks exactly like me.

I have no idea where my son came from. His blonde curly hair and blue eyes aren't familial traits on either side!

Money or not, bet he is happy to have his baby.

I would be thrilled. A baby is like the lotto!

Maybe the hospital switched your baby. That happens more than I thought.
