Obama kicks pirate "booty"
In a daring move, President Barak Obama personally led a team of Navy SEALS (or some kind of navy peeps) in an operation to retrieve a hostage.
This is the first attempted hostage resucue by a Democrat President since 1980. In fact, this comes almost 27 years to the day after the last attempt by Jimmy Carter that ended miserably in the Iranian desert. That abortive rescue was doomed by the commanders in DC overlooking the need for dust filters on the helicopter intakes. Who would have thought a jet intake would need a dust filter in the middle of the Iranian desert? Not to be deterred by his predecessor's errors, Obama not only equipped the SEALS with dust filters, but in compliance with OSHA regulations he ordered all Naval combatants to don "water wings" for the duration of the operation. This order included all Navy personnel including the Naval recruiters in Amarillo. http://www.breitbart.com/article.php...show_article=1 |

Well, let's give him credit for not allowing this nonsense to linger on and on. Maybe we can hire out the US Navy to rescue the hostages on the other sixteen ships that the pirates hold currently, help pay the national debt.
Now let's send special forces in and clean out the pirate leaders in the multi-million dollar homes among mud huts, they shouldn't be hard to find. There is no government, so let's solve the problem. |
Re: Obama kicks pirate "booty"
Funny thread. However I am pleased that a Democrat President was able to break through the Democrat party's normal yellow streak and authorize force to be used.
I think Obama knew that if he allowed the pirates to get this guy to shore in Somalia where we could not get to him when two or more US Navy ships had been meters away that would have been disasterous PR and once again painted the Dems as wimps unwilling to use military force for America. Regardless of the motivation I reluctantly salue the Apologist In Chief for the force authorization. Now if he just would stop making speeches around the world claiming that Islam has been a big part in making America what it is today. |

Re: Obama kicks pirate "booty"
The real hero's should get the credit. The Navy team that did the rescue and of course the captain that allowed himself to be taken instead of his crew. I am pleasantly happy that Obama authorized it

Re: Obama kicks pirate "booty"
These ships should try to travel in packs and then it would be easier for a Frigate or something to protect them. Even the Merchant Marines are armed and could shadow the group.

Re: Obama kicks pirate "booty"
Not trying to diminish the fantastic recue of this captain by some of our finest, but there was a day when our military would just kick the tail out of these renegades and scarecly if at all would we even know about it. Now we are so desparate for a victory of any kind, Barack authorizes a nominal mititary operation and now he must think he is John Wayne or even Ronald Reagan. Sorry, I don't buy into this as anything other than we resued our American from criminals in a bass boat.
Do not misunderstand, I am very very thankful for the captains rescue, but have concerns on these rag-tags no longer fear us. I think we need to re-establish fear of the USA and everyone of those "pirates" should be given a very good and fast home bible study on salvation and Acts 2:38 just before their execution. |

Just in my life time and just off the top of my head... I remember the Pueblo being seized by the father of the renegade who runs North Korea today. They murdered several of the crew in taking the ship while it was clearly in International waters. The Mayaguez and its crew were not released until President Ford famously "attacked the wrong island" but rattled Cambodian pirates enough that they freed their hostages. Palestinians led by Abu Nidal murdered American Leon Klinghofer and held many dozens of Americans hostage until a negotiated settlement was reached. The American captain of a yacht was murdered last year by Venezuelan pirates and an elderly American couple was robbed and nearly beaten to death by another group of "pirates" in the same area. I'm afraid that the "rag tags" have never really "feared" us. |
