YeeHaw! My hometown has a Cowboy Church!
It came up elsewhere, so I looked it up and found that even my home town of Marble Falls TX has a cowboy church http://www.texascowboychurch.com/
http://www.texascowboychurch.com/new...vice%20018.jpg No carpet to worry about so go ahead and bring the dog.... http://www.texascowboychurch.com/new...vice%20009.jpg Are those coffee cups or spit cups... in Texas who could know? Observations: Doctrinally they are trinitarian with a believe whatever you want just don't cause trouble twist. I gotta say I LIKE the relaxed come as you are thing. The whole stuffed shirt suit and tie formality thing is something I do because iot is expected but find it tiresome. The only good reason to wear a jacket is because it is cold. There is no good reason to wear a tie. Ever. I do think it might be difficult to get to a point of worship while petting the dog and sipping coffee. I had heard of this group but it looks like it is getting bigger accross the country. There are no cowboy churches in Connecticut. That does not surprise me. Any of you folks encountered these people? Observations? |

I know people who attend a Cowboy church. They are down-to-earth, sincere, hard-working, moral people. This is a venue they feel very comfortable in, and it works for them.

The last two churches that I've been part of --the Vineyard from 1992-2006 and the Hamilton Dream Center 2006-present have been casual. No suits, no ties, jeans and flannel shirts in the winter and shorts and tee shirts in the summer.
That sure beats wearing a suit and a choke string (necktie or cloth necklace) |

probably the only problem with going to church with guys who don't wear a neck tie is you don't get to go up to them and ask, "Is that a necktie, or did you throw up down your shirt?" But, how many times can you use that line in one church? |
