Apostolic Friends Forum - My Greatest Gift for Mother's Day...

The bible says to give honor where honor is due, May God Bless ALL mothers everywhere.

The church got me a gift certificate for a "Mini spa retreat" with 3 services. So, I'll get a Petite massage, pedicure, and a manicure. It was really a nice gift. I got some homemade cards from the kiddos at the church and a really funny card from my sister.

When the church presented me with the card and certificate I was pretty emotional. My husband had just preached a sermon called "What Mother's Do." He talked about how Hagar got the bad end of the deal. What happened to her was not by her mistakes or any wrong doing on her part. She did what she did because she had no choice, she was a slave, how ever she ended up in Abraham's court, we're not sure, but she was there none the less.

He talked about how she was sent away with little food and one bottle of water. She walked til she ran out of water and strength. He talked about how she put her baby under a shade tree, and then went off a "bow shot away" because she couldn't stand to sit and watch her baby die. Then the angel of the Lord came to her and spoke to her and told her it was going to be ok cause the Lord had heard the cry of the boy and that He had great plans for boy. He told her to "Arise, lift up thy son, and hold him in thine hand for I will make of him a great nation."

John says, " I have no greater joy than that my children walk in truth." That is the cry of my heart. Yes, I want my boys to succeed and be the best and greatest that they can be. Yes, I want them to grow up and have wonderful jobs, beautiful home, great cars, the most beautiful wives and children in the world, but most of all I want them to walk in truth. To be saved. To be assured of, or as assured as one can be, of walking down the streets of gold and worshipping around the throne.

That is the greatest Mother's day gift that I could receive. The knowlege that my children are walking in truth, grounded in and committed to Jesus.

Heaven help me to be the example that I need to be to them and to others to help that dream come to pass.
