Things stolen while at church.
We came home last night to find out that someone had entered our place and stolen between 700 and 800 dollars worth of things from my oldest son. They took a brand new game system with all the trimmings and all the games. THE ONLY THING THEY TOOK. They left money, a debt card, tv's, and several other things. Just the new system and games. Of course we have our thoughts about who and why but those are only speculation. We feel violated. My oldest son is trying so hard to do what is right and good. He just came from a really good youth service to that. He was so let down. The devil tried to steal his joy but he stopped it from happening. He got back on the right track. He is hurt and upset but he is forgiving.
We all are hurt. If the 'who' really did it then we have been treating this young man like one of our own for 5 years only to be slapped in the face. It is very disheartening. Called the police when we found it. They never showed up. Called them back and was told it would be about an hour longer. We found this at 9:45 PM and by 11:00PM we have made two phone calls to be told it would probably be closer to 12:00AM. Well at 2:30 AM I finally went to bed. Called them back this morning and told them how SAFE they made me feel. They arrived at 9:00 AM to take a statement and dust for prints. They could not get any clear prints. GREAT. Anyway...... Called the insurance to double check my deductible and it is $1000, another GREAT. So we are paying to have things replaced if they are stolen or lost do to some other force and it really doesn't do us much good. So my son is out his new system and games. He had used his first pay check to buy this stuff. AFTER TITHES AND OFFERINGS OF COURSE. Poor kid. He gets up and the devil tries to knock him down again. I am so proud of him and how he is doing. He said that it is okay, God just removed a time robber from him. |

If you know who it is, why can't they be made to give back the items? |
Re: Things stolen while at church.
jaxfam6,
I am so sorry to hear about this. I will be praying that the thieves get caught and the items recovered no matter how slight that chance is. In my neighborhood we have a teenager who has been in and out of jail many times who we believe is responsible for breaking into several homes and stealing those type things (game systems, electronic equipment, etc) including the home directly across from us. Last year he stole a bicycle out of my garage to ride home to try and talk his parents into giving him his car back that they had taken from him. When I went to his home to recover the bike (we had seen him lurking about our home just before it disappeared) he was not there but his parents were and in the kindest manner possible I told them that I was from Alaska and Texas and people from both of those states did not put up with people stealing from them. I told them that they needed to tell their son to NEVER step foot on my property again and if he did he was going to end up getting shot. To their credit they did not disagree. The dad who was about twice my size just said "I don't blame you". Since then he has been in and out of jail at least once and probably more. A pothead who needs the Lord and a brain. |
Re: Things stolen while at church.
Sorry about your loss!!! Our son's church has been broken into several times. It's sad when people do things like this. I remember when church doors were kept unlocked all the time in the event someone wanted to drop by and pray! Now, we hand out keys!

Re: Things stolen while at church.
At least your son has a good attitude about it, it appears that God is forming him! Good thing! Look on the bright side, he still loves God, has not given up, and is going on!
As far as the thief, God is not mocked! They will reap, always do! Lord Bless your family! |
Re: Things stolen while at church.
Sorry to hear this.
Good for your son, looking optimistically on this! Depending on how the person entered, you may want to change your locks. You might also post a reward for recovery of the item or "information leading to arrest". Around here there is a "crime stoppers" program. If there is one in your area, call. You may not be the only ones who have had something taken. I'd also mention that the police didn't arrive in a timely manner. I remember when church doors were left unlocked. You are blessed if they give out keys now-a lot of churches don't give out keys anymore, at all. |
Re: Things stolen while at church.
I am so sorry aboout this and will be holding you all up in my prayers...please change all locks...we sure have had our share things like that...Bless your son and may God give him encouragement. Love you folks.

Re: Things stolen while at church.
It would be nice if we KNEW for a fact that the young man in question did take the itmes. I would confront him with it. I am praying that God restore to my son what he has lost. Not necessarily the system itself but the money for it. He has the greatest attitude about it. He is doing very well. I came in today and he was reading his Bible. Yes I agree that God is doing a work in him. I am most thankful for that. His is a good young man. Very proud of him.
Last night our youngest was having difficulty. He admitted to being a little scared. He also is troubled by the idea that a 'friend/brother' could betray them. We talked a long time about it. About how it is okay to have these feelings but not to let them take control of our lives. We also went into how this is what drugs can do to a persons life. They can be good people but if they get into drugs they will start to make the wrong and bad choices. Last night my wife also had it hit her finally. She broke down and cried. The feeling of being violated is strong. The doubt and mistrust you feel in a person. It can be overwhelming. Thanks for your kind words and prayers. |

So sorry to hear about this. How are you doing now? I know it has got to be hard. Personally, I would not confront the kid, what if you are wrong? It would destroy the relationship. And if you are right, would it get the stuff back, probably not. I would just continue love hiim, but use the "trust but verify" approach. My wife had a few hundred $$ stolen out of her pocketbook while at church. We know it was at church because we found where the guy threw her DL in the trash. When I was a teenage a man at church accused me of lifting about $1000 from him. The only contact with him I had was to shake his hand on the way out the door. That was Sunday and on Monday I was at the police station taking lie detector tests. On Tuesday I got a call from the old man saying how sorry he was, he found the $$ under his mattress. Too little too late. The Sherriff was too prideful to say he was sorry, he put me thru hell to try and get me confess. I was too young to say, "I want a lawyer." |
