How Do You Know?
Why is it that when the Word of God clearly states:
Matthew 7:18-20 (King James Version) (18) A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. (19) Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. (20) Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them. that we will know people by their fruits that most Christians change it to "we will know them by their doctrine?" |
Re: How Do You Know?
Excellent subject.
An apostolic couple (at least in 100% appearance and Acts 2:38 doctrine) walks into a restaurant and are rude to the waiter. Another (non-apostolic) couple walk in and are NICE to the waiter, even after he screws up their order. Who is showing the good fruits? |

14 For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. 15 But if ye bite and devour one another, take heed that ye be not consumed one of another. 16 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would. 18 But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law. 19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. 22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. 24 And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. 25 If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. 26 Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another. |
Re: How Do You Know?
Many Apostolic Pentecostals are identifiable by the way they dress
and are notoriously poor tippers and demanding and demeaning in their attitude toward the server. This is not meant to be a broad brush covering all Apostolic Pentecostals but does apply to many and seems to be a widespread perception among restaurant employees. |
Re: How Do You Know?
Speaking of the way others will know that we are believers, look at this one:
JN 13:34 "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." |

Re: How Do You Know?
Very good point, gs!
It is easier to know the truth of doctrine than it is to have the fruit of the Spirit! |
