Not ALL Wisdom is Equal!!!

Do you realize that wisdom is one of the gifts of the spirit and is listed first? Wisdom is considered a major ingredient in a Christian's life.

1Cr 12:8 For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;

Eph 1:17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of him:

Act 6:3 Wherefore, brethren, look ye out among you seven men of honest report, full of the Holy Ghost and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business.

Col 1:9 For this cause we also, since the day we heard [it], do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding;

Col 1:28 Whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom; that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:

The 3rd chapter of James talks about two different kinds of wisdom - Worldly wisdom and Godly wisdom.

What is worldly wisdom?

1. Intellect – Why? Because you don’t need the spirit of God to be smart! Some of the smartest people on earth are not Christians.

2. 20/20 hindsight – Why? Because you don’t need to be a Christian to get wiser with age.

3. Skill or talent to exhort or debate – Why? Because some of the best speakers and debaters are not Christians. This is a skill that is art and craft.

Jam 3:15 This wisdom descendeth not from above, but [is] earthly, sensual, devilish.
Jam 3:16 For where envying and strife [is], there [is] confusion and every evil work.

What is Godly wisdom?

Jam 3:17 But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, [and] easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

The next time you read someone’s posts, think about this verse. Are they exemplifying worldly wisdom or Godly wisdom? :)

Solomon's wisdom didn't stop him from having hundreds of wives and concubines!

Who said - maybe it was his wisdom. His needs were met and I don't believe scripture mentions him having any marital problems.

I heard that Godly wisdom is not 20/20 hindsight, but 20/20 foresight!

When Salomon could have asked for anything, he asked for wisdom. His wives and concubines were perfectly legal and acceptable by God in that dispensation of time.

That is a great way to put it - - to have foresight!

Mr. S, I think we should pray for godly wisdom in our lives. If we prayed for it more and used it the world would be a better place. Or at least around here it would be!

Maybe we should all say a prayer for Godly wisdom before we hit the "submit reply" button! :)
