Joining Marines?

Do you have to get a certain score on the ASVAB to be able to join the Marines? I know your score will aid in your placement, but is there a minimum passing score to be able to join at all?

AQP, I don't know you well, but I'm afraid you are probably a bit to girly for the Marines!

call a recruiting office.

I suggest you call one outside of your state an give a fake name!

(really I am serious about that)

Also rule number one in dealing with a recruiter is
THEY WILL LIE THEIR BUTTS OFF TO GET YOU IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Rule number two in dealing with a recuriter is
refer to rule number 1.

I recomend the military for any young man who is NOT disciplined, who doesnt have a desire or aptitiude for college, who does not have positive role modles in his life.

For young women, the reasons for joining the military are even fewer. If you are worried she might come up pregnant DO NOT let her join the military!!!!!!!!

The military is a great place for a young person to get their life in order if there is a serious lack of order. It is a HORRIBLE place to send a young person who is in love with God and has a solid direction.

Any kid who has solid direction that wants to join the military needs to be counciled to go to college and join as an officer.

I would be more than happy to talk to any parent with a kid about to make these decisions. I would want them to know I will ask some hard questions of them and their parenting and for them not to be offended if I seem to cross some lines, I promise to be respectful, but I serveed in the military. I know what it does to you.

I have counciled members of my youth group (when I was the youth pastor) to join the army and others I did everything in my power to keep them from joining.

The reason to, and not to are very individual.

PS, my recruiters name was Hal L. Howell. If I ever run into that dude again, it will only be the Holy Ghost that will prevent him from taking a serious beating.

PSS I love everybody.

Hal L. Howell? That's almost too good to be true. :ursofunny Sounds like a character from that Tarrantino movie with Brad Pitt.

As angry as I am today, I think I'd be a perfect fit. :ursofunny I could take care of all of the problems in Afghanistan today, I think. Just give me some ammo.

One of our teen sons got a ticket last night for going NINETY MILES AN HOUR. I'm so hopping mad I could chew nails. And yes, his tail is PARKED. For quite a while.

He is the one who is considering joining.

Ferd, I'd be happy to talk to you when the time is closer. He's just turned 17, so he still has a year.

In his mind, he wants to serve his country, and do something to give back. Plus, probably at his age, he thinks it sounds cool. I don't really expect him to go through with it. But I'm planning to use the idea to get him to bust his tail on his schoolwork this year. :D

I was just googling, though, and realized that he might have a harder time anyway, because we've homeschooled. The Army accepts homeschoolers as regular grads, now, but the other branches still consider them Tier 2.

Re: Joining Marines?

If the homeschool curriculum qualifies your son for a high school diploma in your state, then it should not be an issue at all for him.

Yes you have to score high enough to join the Marines. I believe the score is 55-- I do know there is a standard for the ASVAB.

There is a standard for the Army, but it is lower, like somewhere in the 30's.

Let me know if I can help you with anything.
