Married People's Advice Stinks
After speaking with a friend who has been married since she was 19 years old, I became extremly frustrated at the fact that she is trying to discourage singles from getting married. She has been married for 14 years and has had five children. She has had very discouraging attitudes toward a young sister age 27 who is engaged and is telling her that she should be extra careful to get married. Now, I agree that we should give prayer and supplication to something like marriage, but I do feel that people who have been married as long as she has and got married at the age she did, should not be telling any single people how to behave in the single life.
I think her experience would better serve women who are married instead of single women. She knows nothing about being saved and single because she really hasn't done it. She got married as soon as she turned nineteen years old. I personally believe that married people need to be sure they don't overstep their boundaries in providing advice about something they don't know anything about. If you have been married 20 years, I just can't listen to you about being single. Now, I feel better!:blah:blah:blah :blah:blah:blah:blah |
Re: Married People's Advice Suck
Since getting married at age 35, I feel like I could offer much better advice to the single crowd then someone who got married as a teen.
I agree with your post. |
Re: Married People's Advice Suck
I would have a great deal of respect for your advice because you didn't get married at 19. You got married at 35. I am 32, and I live this life. Someone who has her situation of being married so young needs to be quiet about how to be single and advising someone when to actually get married. In my opinion, she needed some advice. Married at 19, that is scary.

Re: Married People's Advice Suck
My aunt died a few years ago and my uncle married a missionary he had known for 40 years. She is old and married for the first time. I taught university with a Prof that married another prof 1 year ago. Her 3rd marriage. All three of us have known each other for 35 years. My buddy is first time married at age 60. (prune juice for wedding punch It just ain't right!!!)

Re: Married People's Advice Suck
In the context of human history, 19 is probably considered close to "old maid" age, but I understand what your saying. I remember being in my 20's and having those younger then me, who were married, treat me like a "youth who needs a chaperon" and how I "better keep at least 2 bible lengths between me and my date!"
It would infuriate me! |
Re: Married People's Advice Suck
Coadie, that is just plain mean! Stop that. You are just grumply about everything. Have you been drinking prune juice instead of water?!!!

My wife works in a pharmacy and she can tell you that one of the biggest markets for "magic pills" for the men and 'protection' (for both) is the senior apartments which surround her store. |

I agree with you on the young woman trying to instruct/teach singles though. |
Re: Married People's Advice Suck
It really bothers me how married people are so discouraging to singles. They are always trying to tell them things that make them not want to become married, especially if the married person is currently unhappy in their marriage.
