From whence do our new members come?
 

Just wondering, from your observation in your local church and in other churches that you know about, where do our new members come from? Do they come in as sinners, hear the Word, and then turn from sin to God and receive new life?
or
are they usually members of some other church that switch to coming to our church?

We have had one new family come in and the dad is real "ol time" and the kids are not but I think it was word of mouth pastor knew them already..

I think the family was recruted cause we don't have very many "ol time" elders any more.

Smaller churches attract more new converts. Larger churches attract more move-ins, along with new converts. There's always a mixture. People move for various reasons to different cities. Our local assembly has seen many brand-new families.

It seems like most people that come to our church have been hurt from other churches. My pastor's ministry is one of healing and reconciliation. We have people who are baptist, ex-Word of Faith, COGIC, AOG, COG, and exUPC.

We do minister to people who are new christians but because we just trying to get going we don't have the addiction classes or small group bible studies that so many new Christians need. Most of the new struggling Christians seem to be attracted to the local baptist church or one of the rehab ministries in our town. We have connections with many of these people and as they grow in Christ I expect some will gravitate towards our church.

Most of our new people are not from other Apostolic type churches but they have some kind of church background.
