The Standards Of Jesus Christ.
Jesus Christ who came to this earth as God manifest in human flesh taught standards, these standards are true standards and no one can say these are man-made or legalistic ,they demand commitment and consecration.
One I struggle with is,loving my neighbor as myself I pamper myself I don't want to be incoveniced by others and I like to throw pity parties, yet if I am follow Jesus and live a Christ centered life I must adhere to this standard. Let's discuss the standards that Jesus set for His disciples and what ways can we overcome the hinderances to adhering to them ? |
Re: The Standards Of Jesus Christ.
And yet if a hellfire and brimestone preachers gets up, yelling and spitting, and shouts "You need to LOVE your neighbor, ahhh haaaa, as yourself! Ahhh haaaa", there may be a few muffled 'amens' but not the "PREACH IT!"'s as the flock rises to its collective feet.
Such a command forces one to look inward, while an outward standard allows you to look outwards -namely AT your neighbor and realize that you are indeed better and more saved then them. |

Re: The Standards Of Jesus Christ.
Matt 22: 37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. 38This is the first and great commandment. 39And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
Love God and love one another… everything will fall under those two commandments. Love… the only way we can truly have his love is to keep his commandments and abide in his love… John 15:10 If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. 11These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full. 12 This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. 13 Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends. 14Ye are my friends, if ye do whatsoever I command you. 2 Corinthians 5:14 For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead: another bible version says “controls us” and yet another says “compels us” You can’t hurt, talk about, murder in words or action, gossip about, steal from, cheat, lie to someone that you love. If we truly have love as God has for all mankind, there is no way we could be able to sin against someone else or against God. It is the Love of God because he first loved me that compels me to do everything I can to please him. Every time I struggle with something, I can trace it back to a lack of love for someone in every situation… including in a lack of love for my own self. I know that there are those who don’t believe we should have love of self… but I don’t mean selfish, but realizing that we are created in his image and we are valuable to God… he loves us, so we should recognize our worth and value in him…and in that we are healthy enough to help others. |
