Palin on Oprah Finally-- Is That Enough?

For those of you who publicly called Oprah a "racist" on this forum should retract your statements.

I thought I'd throw that out now that I am thinking about it.

Or is there nothing a Black person can do to shake such an outlandish label, once they have been associated with such an evil way of thinking!!!

:D

Quote:

Importantly, when Barack Obama appeared on Oprah’s set, they shared a love seat. Oprah sat next to the would-be candidate with an arm outstretched in an open and affirming posture. Conversely, the staging for Palin’s appearance was less like a living room, more like a hotel lobby, and not a very inviting one.

But while Oprah didn’t do anything that could be interpreted as supportive – no comfy couch or “girlfriend” moments –she didn’t necessarily undermine Palin either.

Leaving me…still curious.

If the appearance was meant to encourage sales of Palin’s book, it worked. I’m going shopping. I hope Mrs. Palin will do what the media has not yet done for me – finally shed some light on who she is and what sort of leader she might be.

Much like a white person who disagrees with President Obama's policies may have to deal with such a label?

exactly my point.

The racism accusation is played out too.

I know it happens, but not nearly as much as people like to throw it out.

As for Oprah being racist, that was the MOST IGNORANT AND OUTLANDISH "racist" accusation I had ever read-- and I read it on AFF!

And there was more than one person who seemed to think that it was true or at least, very likely.

That, was simply mind boggling to me.

But now that Oprah and Palin have done a show together, is that enough?

Probably not.

Many folks see the racism in themselves and apply it to others as they see fit.

Oprah is not a racist.

Those who said so should examine themselves or, at the bare minimum, get to know her a bit more before making such an ignorant statement.

"Ignorant" because the accusation was and is groundless!

jermyn, gotta tell you, I believe there are very few racists. Many may be prejudiced or bigoted, but few real racists.

The issues are these...

Conservatives unfairly and rashly label liberals every move.
Liberals unfairly and rashly label conservatives every move.

Conservatives can see every tiny thing a liberal does wrong and some things they don't.
Liberals can see every tiny thing a conservative does wrong and some things they don't.

Both sides unrealistically see the good in all that is done on their own side and relentlessly sees the wrong in all that is done on the other side.

All that is accomplished by this is a constant bickering among sides (neither of which are all right nor all wrong) while the country marches lock step into destruction and tyranny.

When everbody sees that the game itself is the facilitator of our destruction then maybe, someday, people will quit bickering about the other side of this coin we all ride on and sound out with a united voice...

Government is out of control and neither conservatives nor liberals are helping.
Government is out of control and neither Republicans nor Democrats are helping.

This game is laughable.

Keep fiddling... but the ship is still sinking.

I think every human has prejudices-- some are justified, some are born out of bigotry.

I have to agree with you on the few real racists.
