Apostolic Friends Forum - God showed me something today

My son was angry with me the other day and headbutted me in my mouth. He is only two years old. Of course I was mad at him because of the pain it caused me, but of course I quickly forgave him because I know he is still young and doesn't really understand what he did. I dicsiplined him over his actions not because he hurt me, because I don't want him growing up thinking it is alright to hit others when he is mad.

God used this as an important lesson for me. Believe it or not, God looks at us like we are only two years old. Even a man that is 70 years old God still looks at him like he is a child with so much to learn. When we harm ourselves and others when we commit sinful acts, he looks at us the same way I looked at my son when he punched me. He condemns what we did, and tells us not to do it anymore, although with our 2 year old minds we don't always understand what is so wrong with what we did.

My son will probably do something like this again, and I will keep correcting him. He will one day mature to the point where he realizes it is wrong to hit others, and until then I will be patient with him.

I will not live my life in fear anymore over whether I am saved or not. I have this peace in my heart now, that God is my loving parent and will see to it that I am going in the right direction.

As I am in the middle of typing this, I paused to check on my son and he is in the middle of the living room butt naked. He took his diaper off, and he was in the process of dumping a whole box of Fruit Loops on the floor. I only have one son to contend with, I would not want to be God and have billions of children.
