It's All Down Hill From Here

Since the sentiment I hear over and over again is that the season that has just passed is "the most wonderful time of the year"...

It is, apparently, all down hill from here.

See, C.S. Lewis had it right- the bad thing about Narnia (the first time that the Pevensie children went) was that it was always winter and never Christmas- I think a more apropos terms would be that Christmas is the most wonderful time of winter- because the rest of it STINKS!!!

To Me the most wonderful time of the year is the end of May- the weather is warm, school is out (or almost out) and there is so much to do!!!

True... but when 2010 gets here it won't be the most wonderful time of the year again for over 10 months. :)

The glass is half full. Always.

It's always half full because no one brought a straw.

As much as I enjoy the build-up to Christmas and then Christmas itself, I honestly think I enjoy this time between Christmas and New Year's Eve much more!!

I take this week off every year - have for 25 years now. That means that the day after Christmas and then all the way to New Year's I don't have to get out of bed in the morning until I really want to. And if I decide that I want to do nothing all day except lay in a chair and read, I can do that. I don't do any more than necessary in my house this week - so don't come visit this week! We eat left-overs and then whatever I can make quick and easy. UNLESS I really get inspired and feel like spending half a day cooking. And even then, I'm free to do it. This is a vacation at home! I love it!

Every day above ground is among the most wonderful of days. :)

My kids are off school for 2 weeks and I take 2 weeks off with them each year. I really enjoy that time to relax with them and do something... or do nothing. My son and I are expanding a room and putting in a new bathroom. The girls help some but they aren't heart broken when they don't "get to join in". But we love building things together.

I went and bought a clawfoot tub from a guy an hour away the other day. It won't be long and we will have a 2nd bathroom. YEAH!!!
