Wives Tales

After seeing all the post of new babies on their way, I was reminded of a wives tale my Mom told me a number of years ago.

When you see a lot of male babies born in one year, that is indicative of a war in their prime years.

Anyone every heard this before or done any research to see if it is true?

Have not heard that one, but the timing of my youngest son's birth was a direct result of a wive's tale.

My mother-in-law had informed my wife (without my knowledge) that a woman could not get pregnant while breast feeding.

Son number 2 was born less than a year later.

:-)

When my great, great grandmother was helping her daughter give birth, she was shocked when there was a second baby (twins!). She thought that meant they had uh... "done it" twice in one night. Then, lo and behold, when a third one came out (triplets!!!) she threw her hands up in disgust and left the room! LOL!

BTW... they were going to name the triplets Faith, Hope, and Charity. But two of them didn't make it. My grandmother was the "runt" of the litter, and was the only one of the three that lived. Her "bassinet" was the bottom drawer of a chest-of-drawers.
