My Taxes Went Up & I Dont Make $250K

Was informed today that my take home pay will be reduced by $200+ a year because the IRS sent to our office a new tax table for 2010. Nice.

I recall a "promise" from a certain Illinois senator running for president in '08 that 95% of Americans would receive a tax cut and that only those making $250K or more would see an increase in taxes.

I didn't believe the promise when I heard it over and over. Just wish others would not have been so gullible.

Thank you, my fellow Americans. The invoice for your folly at the polls has arrived on my doorstep. My suspicion is that an extra $200+ is just the first installment...

Re: My Taxes Went Up & I Dont Make $250K

The deducted taxes on my General Electric pension went up on January 1 but my gross pension remained the same. Taxes are not deducted from our Social Security checks but have to be paid at the end of the year. I assume they will go up also. And we make far, far less than $250K with a pension and two social security incomes. It's more like $50K combined.

But, BHO campaigned on redistribution of wealth so that's what I assume we'll see.

I'm very UNthankful to all of you who voted for him so my income can be cut by his redistribution of wealth socialist/communist policy.

That is because everyone got the making work pay credit in 2009. Your taxes aren't going up they are just going back to what they were before the big stimulus bill. You should get a tax credit of about $800 when you file your 2009 1040.
