Do Blacks Want To Transcend Race?
Chris Matthews attracted a whole lot of negative attention when he made the remark about President Obama, "I forgot he was black."
Honestly, I did not find anything wrong with his remark, but I know Chris Matthews on-air demeanor does not lend his remark to something negative at all. We're not talking about Imus or Limbaugh, we're talking about Chris Matthews. That being said, I do understand the fury. If you have not heard about the "furor", I've attached a link to an article that talks about it. I've also attached a link to another article, depicting the FBI's involvement in a troubling threat to black college students in Ohio. This threat states that black college students at Hocking College in Ohio will die on Feb 2, 2010. Some black students have withdrawn from the school, some have ignored the threats, but racial tensions are high there and apparently have been high there for several years now. So it is my opinion that yes, blacks, like most Americans, want to transcend race-- but like what's going in Ohio demonstrates, we still have a very long way to go. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/35132893...and_ethnicity/ Ohio's Hocking College, "Blacks students will be killed on February 2" http://www.lancastereaglegazette.com...311/1002/rss01 Feel free to glance or read through the articles and share your opinions. |

Re: Do Blacks Want To Transcend Race?
There are those on both sides that want to transcend race as well as those who wonīt let the past go.
I think there was nothing wrong with the remarks by Matthews. Itīs being blown way out of proportion. If anything, he was complimenting Obama. |

Sounds like Harry Reid's commendation of BHO because he didn't look or talk "black." That was pretty white of them both, don't you think? |

I choose the second interpretation. MSNBC leans (or leaps) toward Obamaīs side, so Iīm pretty sure it wasnīt meant negatively. |
Re: Do Blacks Want To Transcend Race?
Chris Matthews or Harry Reid makes comments like this, it's okay. Could even be a compliment according to some....
However, were Limbaugh, Hannity or any other white, conservative talk show host or FoxNews anchor/contributor were to say the same things ... oh the fury that would have been unleashed. Hypocrisy at its finest, ladies and gentlemen. JD, be honest, if it were someone else like I listed above ... would you still have been ok with it. Doubtful. I almost guarantee you if Limbaugh would've said it, you'd be foaming at the mouth talking about how mean he is and how much you'd love to just spit on his grave. Again, hypocrisy. |
Re: Do Blacks Want To Transcend Race?
I would have been ok if just about anyone had said it, as long as they weren't being all white-hoodish about it. Some people just look for reasons to be offended.

Re: Do Blacks Want To Transcend Race?
There is no difference between Limbaugh, Hannity, and Matthews. All three are bigots.
