Illegal Alien Thread

Maybe you folks have seen this already. A friend of mine sent it to me via email.

JOE LEGAL vs. JOSE ILLEGAL
You have two families: "Joe Legal" and "Jose Illegal"
~
Both families have two parents, two children, and live in California.
~
Joe Legal works in construction, has a Social Security Number
and makes $25.00 per hour with taxes deducted.
~
Jose Illegal also works in construction, has NO Social Security Number,
and gets paid $15.00 cash "under the table".
~
Ready? Now pay attention...
~
Joe Legal: $25.00 per hour x 40 hours = $1000.00 per week,
or $52,000.00 per year. Now take 30% away for state and
federal tax; Joe Legal now has $31,231.00.
~
Jose Illegal: $15.00 per hour x 40 hours = $600.00 per week,
or $31,200.00 per year. Jose Illegal pays no taxes.
Jose Illegal now has $31,200.00.
~
Joe Legal pays medical and dental insurance with limited coverage
for his family at $600.00 per month, or $7,200.00 per year.
Joe Legal now has
$24,031.00.
~
Jose Illegal has full medical and dental coverage through
the state and local clinics at a cost of $0.00 per year.
Jose Illegal still has $31,200.00.
~
Joe Legal makes too much money and is not eligible for food stamps
or welfare. Joe Legal pays $500.00 per month for food,
or $6,000.00 per year. Joe Legal now has $18,031.00.
~
Jose Illegal has no documented income and is eligible for
food stamps and welfare. Jose Illegal still has $31,200.00.
~
Joe Legal pays rent of $1,200..00 per month, or $14,400.00 per year.
Joe Legal now has $9,631.00.
~
Jose Illegal receives a $500.00 per month federal rent subsidy.
Jose Illegal pays out that $500.00 per month, or $6,000.00
per year. Jose Illegal still has $ 31,200.00.
~
Joe Legal pays $200.00 per month, or $2,400.00 for insurance.
Joe Legal now has $7,231.00.
~
Jose Illegal says, "We don't need no stinkin' insurance!"
and still has $31,200.00.
~
Joe Legal has to make his $7,231.00 stretch to pay utilities,
gasoline, etc.
~
Jose Illegal has to make his $31,200.00 stretch to pay utilities,
gasoline, and what he sends out of the country every month.
~
Joe Legal now works overtime on Saturdays or
gets a part time job after work.
~
Jose Illegal has nights and weekends off to enjoy with his family.
~
Joe Legal pays for his children's lunches while Jose Illegal's
children get a government sponsored lunch. Jose Illegal's children
have an after school ESL program. Joe Legal's children go home.
~
Joe Legal and Jose Illegal both enjoy the same police and fire services,
but Joe paid for them and Jose did not pay.
~
Do you get it, now? If you vote for or support any politician
that supports illegal aliens... You are part of the problem!
It's way PAST time to take a stand for America and Americans!
What are you waiting for? Pass it on.

I love every human's soul and wish to see no one die and go to hell.

The Blood of Jesus makes salvation possible for people in your country too.

So if you are here illegally, take the Name of Jesus with you as you go back home.

It's almost sickening to me.

It's one thing if we're talking about citizens-- but these folks aren't even citizens and if it weren't for the money, they wouldn't be here.

Their allegiance is not to America, why should they reap any of the benefits of being an American?

First of all, I do think that steps should be taken to prevent people from benefiting from taxpayer dollars if they are here illegally.

However, my only comment is that ANYONE in need of emergency medical care should receive it, no matter what their status. Period. If it's discovered that they're here illegally in the process of treating them, then they can be reported to the proper authorities and dealt with after they've been stabilized.

Beyond that, we need to be dealing with this problem a lot better, and hopefully in a humane way. I am not in favor of the vigilantes who would be happy standing at the border and using lethal means to pick off anyone trying to cross. Personally, I don't like the term "illegal aliens." It becomes way too easy to mistreat people when we distance ourselves from them with a cold label. They're people.

Also, Joe Illegal still has to provide housing, food, transportation and medical care to his family. Since Joe Legal & Joe Illegal make the same amount of money, technically if one is eligible for benefits from the state, the other is too. The math doesn't add up.

The math adds up if Jose Illegal never claims his income accurately.

That's the whole point.

In this scenario, Jose Illegal comes out on top of Joe Legal.

If he is being paid in cash, there's no record, so he doesn't have to report it (he should, but there's no way to enforce it).

That might be your point--but it wasn't made in the first post, which is what I was responding to. :D The idea was that they start with the same basic income, but that Joe Legal ends up with less because he pays taxes, and doesn't receive food stamps or free medical care.

And I agree that there needs to be better regulation of the problem--without lethal force or inhumane treatment of illegal aliens. NOR do we need a bunch of children of illegal aliens (who are often legal citizens themselves by birth) being deprived of their parents and foisted into the foster care system. Talk about costing tax payer dollars!!!! That would be a catastrophe.

This problem needs good, reasonable, humane answers--not rash action or vigilante justice.

I hear Christian people talking about illegal aliens, "wetbacks", "rats", and other choice names, and it disappoints me. It reminds me of the racist rhetoric I heard often when we lived in Louisiana. Whether immigrants are here legally or not, they are still human beings, and God loves them. Our first responsibility is to react to them as Jesus would. Like it or not, defending the sanctity of our country's borders should come second, from a biblical perspective. (Maybe even a distant third, behind treating those who are in need charitably.)

Currently, our church has a large number of Burmese believers who left Myanmar due to religious persecution. I have not asked a single person if their green card is valid, and quite frankly, I don't care, and won't ask. We have English classes for them on Monday nights, our pastor and his wife have tried to help them with doctor's appointments, getting jobs, etc.

I PROMISE you that if I found out one of them was here illegally (or even had an expired card) I would NOT report it.
