WV Coal Miners Memorial Service
Just finished watching the Memorial Service for the 29 Coal Miners who were killed in the recent West Virginia explosion. What an awesome service. Jesus Christ was lifted up and extolled in an overwhelming way. Thank God for people who were not afraid to mention the name of Jesus Christ. If you didn't see the celebration and get a chance to see it replayed, avail yourself of the opportunity. It will bless you beyond measure.

Re: WV Coal Miners Memorial Service
I did not get to see it but that is good to hear. I attended a Boys & Girls Club fundraiser dinner last week with several hundred people and I was pleasantly surprised to hear the young girl who said the prayer actually end the prayer "In Jesus name".

I wish I had a copy of the celebration. There was a black preacher that was about to have church and there sat Pres. Obama and Vice-Pres Biden wondering, (and this is just my thoughts,) what in the world is going on here! It was great. The singing was awesome as well. The name of Jesus was mentioned many times during the program, and at times with power and authority. People were shouting amen from the crowd. I'm repeating myself but it was great. Been Thinkin |

After reading your first post, I was wondering in Obama was there.... :D So glad that he was and it didn't intimidate the people from "having church". :thumbsup

He and the Vice-pres both were there. Biden did a good job for the most part; tried to raise his voice like the black preacher a little, didn't sound like himself. I hesitate to say the following because I will get shot at from both barrels from some for saying this...(will probably be called a racist) but for Pres. Obama to be extolled as such a great orator, he did a very poor job (without the teleprompters). Of course I will add, I would not have wanted to follow any of those who spoke first. Again they were tremendous. I hope there will be someplace that will replay this so others can give their opinions. I feel like I was fair in my judging. I'm sure some will disagree. If someone else saw the celebration please post your opinion. I would like to hear it. Been Thinkin |

He's spoken many times without a telepropmter and has done just fine. I honestly think that he wanted to make sure that he didn't take up the attention. Sometimes it's better to not be the best at something. He did just fine in letting someone else shine. |

Jermyn you may be right on your second point. I disagree with you that he has done fine many times without the teleprompter. The record stands otherwise. But that's beside the point. He may have been holding back some. I don't know. Did you see it or are you just saying he was letting someone else shine just to take up for him? I wish you would try to see it if you could. There were blacks, whites and man they all shined. I was blessed and shed some tears. Would give a good price to have a DVD of the entire celebration. Told my wife they should produce a DVD and let each of the networks market them and give the proceeds to the 29 families who lost loved ones. Again the name of Jesus was called upon so many times. It was refreshing to see folks that loved the Lord, proclaiming it without fear or reservations. Appreciate your response Jermyn, Have a good night. Been Thinkin |
