Nashville Flooding

I just read about this.......so many tragic things have been going on all around us!

http://blog.al.com/scenesource/2010/05/post_50.html

The Gaylord Opryland Resort has sustained major damage and could be closed for months. The Nashville Business Journal writes: “That closure will have a major impact on the hospitality industry in Nashville; Gaylord has more than 2,000 guest rooms and plays host to dozens of major conference and conventions throughout the year.” The resort is near the Cumberland River. (Nashville Business Journal)

also.....

The Grand Ole Opry has been flooded. The Nashville Scene reports that the new location of the Opry, at Opryland, has sustained damage. The historic Ryman Auditorium is still safe. The Opry's twitter feed is being updated regularly on the conditions of the Opry buildings and the future of various shows. (Nashville Scene)

I heard about Opryland Hotel on tv this morning before we left for graduation. Unreal. And several of us were there just a few short weeks ago. It is such a grand place. Kind of like the titanic sinking. We don't think about something that big sustaining damage of that magnitude!

Even though I live in the Nashville area and know things are bad I did not realize how bad things were at the Orpyland Hotel until coming home from work this eveing they said there was 10 feet of water in it.

For those who don't have a clue about the scale of this hotel it has about 3,000 rooms and glass atriums with over one million plants.

Re: Nashville Flooding

I know there's not been much media attention. I think on the other thread about the Nashville food I posted an article that was great. The article talked about that fact and because there's not been any looting and stupidty like NO theedia hasn't given it any time.
