We are Opening Promiseland Sober Living Home

We are so excited to launch our own Sober Living Home this month.

Myself and another woman from our church will be over seeing this project.

We have seen great success from this ministry in the past year, and we are excited about the new people that will be living in the home. It will be a requirement for them to attend church meetings and other Christian based 12 step meetings.

Here is the postcard for Promiseland.

Thank you Pressing and Sister Alvear!

We hope that this is the beginning of something that will lead to more homes being open.

There is such a need, it amazes me. The longer we are doing this ministry the more I am learning about those who have struggles with addiction.

We have a couple of women that are attending just for a community service obligation. When they first started attending, they wouldn't look you in the eye. I noticed one of the women starting to really relax and looking happy for the first time. It makes my heart sing to see it!

I think of you every time we get these types of people in our church - addictions and trouble. It breaks your heart, but they have to be willing to help themselves.

We can show them love and love covers a multitude of sin. I've notice that they don't, initially, trust "love" as it hasn't proven to be true in their pasts. It's so sad!

One of my pastor uncles in Tampa runs one of the largest live-in programs in Florida. Its been a tremendous boon to the church with attendance going from 50ish to about 260ish over the last few years.

I was there in the beginning for 18 months when we got the first 2 homes for men and women and later when they got a big facility that used to be a nursing home type thing with multiple housing units.

private message me and i'll give you his info. he can save you tons of learning curve since they have a lot of things already systemized like how to do drug tests, rules, finances (the people pay $500-600 a month in rent from the job they must work).

They have 80ish folks in the program typically, plus they now have a "age out" program for the foster system for when kids turn 17 and 18.
