Peace and joy, do you have it?
 

Talking with a coworker who's brother is a pentecostal, but dogmatic in his approach to her. She states she cane't talk with hom about it because of the way he is. She said her drinking some wine would bring a quick judgement of going to hell. We talk some about self righteous and how God has to chop folks down to work self glory out.

She went on to say she is happy and has peace. She stated she doesn't see peace in him so conisder is way of faith?

Got me thinking on way from work this am that i have doubts many in church really have peace and joy.


Any input why? I think partly most apostolics doen't even know they are saved.

I think that a lot of times the peace and joy discussed in the Bible are misunderstood in today's American culture.

I've had "There is 'righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Ghost' so don't you have it?" thrown at me a lot of times by people who should have known better. Just because we go through a trial and we get upset-sad or angry-for a season doesn't mean we don't have peace or joy. Jesus wasn't always laughing (although I like to believe He did) and I doubt He had much of what we would consider peace and joy on the cross.

I'm not a braindead ditz who acts like nothing is wrong in the world and simply ignores problems. Nor do I think that because I'm happy, I'm saved. (I've heard that one too often too.)

Yes, there seem to be a lot of people who live in condemnation, and that is sad. But it is true in and out of Pentecost.

The peace and joy the Bible talks about are an overall assurance in God. And yes, I have that.

I have a lot more peace and joy now than I ever did as a UPC member.

I have had a lot more peace and joy since I realized that God's grace towards me isn't based on my good works.
