Urgent prayer request for my husband's stepdad
My husband's stepdad had a very bad stroke during the night last night, we were notified early this morning. Doctors say it does not look good at this point, and that things could go either way.
We will be leaving as soon as I can get a couple of bags packed-- for Jackson, MS to be there for my mother-in-law. Prayer would be greatly appreciated. |

Re: Urgent prayer request for my husband's stepdad
I have been back home for just a little while. I was able to have my daughter log in on my facebook account to post some updates on his condition-- but unable to update here. I was hoping someone who was connected to me would have copied the updates to this thread.
Thanks to everyone for praying. When we got there Wednesday evening, they had just done an MRI and found that he had a hemmorage on the right side on the motor strip on his brain- which caused the stroke and resulted in the paralysis on the left side of his body. He also has a small aneurysm on the left side (totally unrelated to this stroke) that will be monitored closely and taken care of very soon with another procedure. They told the family who were present at that time they would be doing surgery to remove the hemmorage, as it was the most important thing that be done. They had another meeting with all the children present yesterday morning to let us know the benefits/risks of this operation. There was a 90% chance of him making a complete recovery within a few months, and he wanted the surgery. He told the doctor to get it done, because he wanted to get back to play golf. :D They took him in for surgery about 11am and told the family the surgery would take about an hour, then he'd spend an hour to an hour and a half in recovery-- then go back to ICU for 48 hours. Based on the progress, he would go from there. The surgery took less than 20 minutes, because 20 minutes after they took him out for surgery they called the waiting room telling us that he was out and in the recovery area. Two hours later, he was back in the ICU -- talking to family and showing them how he could wiggle the toes on his left foot. This morning we went to check on him at the first visitation hour-- he was sitting up in bed, told us what a large breakfast he had and how good it was. He was laughing and joking around with us. The nurse came in while we were there and said that he would be moved to a private room at the end of the ICU visitation hour after all his family had gotten to see him this morning. :D God is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO good!! |
