Church History recs
I'm not at all sure I'm posting this in the right place....
I'm looking for a good general church history book. I'm studying up to teach my children in the fall, so if anyone knows of one for kids that would be great, too! I found one today in the university library - Church History in Plain Language by Bruce Shelley. Anyone familiar with it? Thanks in advance! Gin |
Re: Church History recs
I would say that there a number of books that could be recomended. I personally prefer Bro. David Bernards 3 volume series on Apostolic Doctrine. However, I have also read Foxe's Book of Martyrs and other works. It all depends on what you are looking for, are you wanting a general history, or a specific era? A specific doctrinal development, demonational creation, or certain leaders and their beliefs? All of these have their own books and interests, and can be further subdivided by interest. Are you interest in how politics and church history interacted, or the church and culture at junctures? All of these things you need to think about when looking. They will help you find what you are looking for. I hope that helped.
