What specifically are the Bible examples of holiness.
 

What specific Bible examples to we have that teach how to be holy?

First of all, we can begin with Moses. LEarn what all he had to say about holiness, as represented to the people through the various types and shadows of the priesthood, the laws regarding clean vs unclean, and so forth.

Then we can look thoughout Israel's history, specifically looking for examples from the prophets who arose and rebuked the erring people for unholiness, and called them to BE HOLY.

Finally, we can look to the gospel account of Jesus Christ, and see what He had to say about holiness and purity, and also how He demonstrated holiness of heart, mind, spirit, and action/lifestyle.

Then we look to the NEw Testament epistles and we discover the encouragements and promises of holiness, instructions in practical holiness living, as well as admonitions not to forsake the pursuit of holiness.

The whole Bible is all about holiness, because it is the revelation of a Holy God, seeking a holy people, finding an unholy people, and making a way for them to partake of His holiness.

One of the more interesting lessons on holiness is found in a close study of the priesthood, and how they were "sanctified" to serve God as priests.

It reveals many things, not least of which is the fact that sanctification (the process of being made holy) begins with the call of God.

Holiness begins with God. God sanctifies a person in the sense that God chooses them for holy service, separating them from the mass of unregenerate humanity, devoting them to His service.

But we also learn that sanctification involves a RESPONSE. Aaron and his sons had to "sanctify themselves", that is, they had to cooperate with God's plan of holiness in order to benefit and participate in it.

Further we learn that by presenting themselves to God on HIS terms, God then fulfilled His sanctification of them. Aaron and his sons presented themselves to God. The basic means by which they "sanctified themselves" was to submit to the Plan of God for their sanctification.

In other words, we "cleanse ourselves" and fulfill the command to "be ye holy" by YIELDING to the plan of God concerning our sanctification.

We also see from looking at the priesthood that the actual work of sanctification is performed by God Himself through His mediator. In Aaron's case, that mediator was Moses. In our case, the mediator is Christ.

By presenting ourselves to Christ, as Aaron and his sons presented themselves to Moses, God will sanctify us to Himself.

That sanctification of Aaron involved three elements, interestingly... water, blood, and oil...

We can learn all about holiness, from the Bible, and from others.

But when it comes down to actually being sanctified, there is only One Person who can show us the Way... Jesus Christ.

What we see in the Word, He makes real in our life.

I couldn't find the scripture that talks about how the people of Israel dressed and prepared themselves to meet with God.

Well, Jesus did point out in a parable that at a certain wedding supper, a man was found who was not wearing a wedding garment (ie, not dressed for the occasion) and was therefore put out of the dining hall.

We have to put on Christ, that is the only way we can be "dressed to meet God".

That is good, but not the one I was thinking of. If I run across it, I'll post it.

Luke 10:33:34~

33: But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was: and when he saw him, he had compassion on him,

34: And went to him, and bound up his wounds, pouring in oil and wine, and set him on his own beast, and brought him to an inn, and took care of him.

There are many more example given in the word, it comes down to having God perfect agape (Jesus) working on the inside, showing His agape on the outward, with His love and understanding ~
