I live in the city of Forest Park, Ohio. We're about 15-20 miles north of Cincinnati. We are a predominantly African American City. In the 2000 census we were about 34 percent white and 56 percent black. Our population is 19020 thousand.

Back before the election last fall some friends from Florida were up here. They used to live in Forest Park so they drove around a little. One of them said, "I've never seen so many Obama signs." Well, we had a bunch of them here in our town. I only know of three houses (there may have been more) that had McCain signs. One was on our street about three doors up on the other side. I know the people there. He used to work at General Electric where I worked. His McCain sign kept being pulled up out of the ground and damaged. Finally it was destroyed. About two blocks down on another street there were two McCain signs. These had holes kicked in them. I don't know that family but they are friends with the family who live on our street. About a mile or so away a young man had a McCain sign and it kept being knocked down until he moved it real close to his house and it was left alone.

So, evidently the African American neighbors are not as tolerant as the white neighbors when it comes to political expression. I didn't see any Obama signs damaged or knocked down. Maybe we needed armed guards for our few McCain signs here in this African American neighborhood.

The wife of my neighbor up the street put this sign out:

We live in an area that has a pretty similar population, on the outskirts of DC, I lived right on route 5 and had about 4 McCain signs up. Mostly just trash was thrown in my yard from passing cars but someone, I think it probably was the mail carrier, destroyed my absentee ballot. I reported it to the Postal service and got no response at all.

Next time I will just sleep on top of my house with a sniper rifle.
