Vegitarian and/or Vegan

Anyone on AFF Vegitarian or Vegan? If you are PM me cause I am thinking about going that way for health and life extending reasons. I am not sick or anything just want to be as healthy as possible and I know some people that were at one time Vegan and Vegitarian she is now starting back. I am just wanting pointers and advice.

On a secondary note if you all want to debate or talk about this topic lets do it. What do you all think about begin Vegan and or Vegitarian? Take a look at this article about Jared Leto from 30 Seconds To Mars. He is a Vegan or at least a very strict Vegitarian. He gained a great amount of weight for a movie and lost it all pretty quick too. So take a look it is a quick read and let me know what you think.

I don't see a link... but
First thing I thought of when I saw this thread was a 16 oz. bone-in Ribeye cooked medium and flame blackened. 100% Angus please.

While I still love to eat steak and am an all around carnivore I would only be doing this for prolonged health.

OK... I am really gonna have to know how many min a ribeye shaves off. (sort of like the seven min per cigarette deal) Cause I am probably willing to shorten my life by a few hrs....:ursofunny

Since my family has a history of heart issues I think that it would be the best choice for me to make because not only could it prolong my life, but it also would make the quality of those years much, much better.

There are healthy options besides vegetarianism, ya know.

I've heard the Vegan propaganda and agree that there are health benefits.

Moderation.....everything in moderation.

Due to a dairy allergy I've recently been forced to give up milk, cheese, yogurt, ice cream, fancy coffees ----------and it's not "fun". In looking for dairy free recipes and cookbooks quite often the only choice is vegan.

I was curious that mayo was on the dairy free list. Huh? it doesn't have milk. But it has eggs and a true vegan doesn't have eggs, and they catagorize eggs as "dairy".

You do not want to go grocery shopping with me.

I read ALL labels. There is milk in unlikely foods.

Plus I've been avoiding high fructose corn syrup for a long time and EVERYTHING has hfcs in it.:toofunny

News flash. Hunts Catsup no longer contains hfcs. :thumbsup

Yep... the fact that a product is advertising the absence of HFCS and that the HFCS industry is spending money to advertise that HFCS is nutritionally equivalent to sugar shows that people are catching on and getting HFCS out of their diets.

Companies will lie and kill people all day long and not look back over a buck.

HFCS is basically nutritionally equal to sugar... sugar is just as bad a poison as HFCS is. But HFCS is not metabolically equal to sugar. The way it is metabolizes causes worse weight gain as well as other serious health issues.

HFCS is a slow poison.

I recently saw a bumper sticker that most appropriately stated my position:

"God didn't put me at the top of the food chain to eat no vegetables."

Vegetarianism is not necessarily a healthy approach and often not.
