TN District Supt. of A/G in Critical Condition

Please say a prayer for Bro. J. R. Gould, who is in Intensive Care Isolation Unit at Vanderbilt in Nashville. He pastored here in our city (Jackson) for years back in the 80's-90's, I think. Then he and his wife went to Kenya and spent many years there as missionaries. They had an orphanage that we helped to support for several years. They are wonderful people and true servants of God.

He recently has lost about 50 pounds for no reason and is very sick. They think it may be from some weird parasite that he picked up in Kenya that has lain dormant in his system. No one can get in to see him except his doctors and his wife Shirley, and she has to be covered from head to toe, until they determine if he is contagious or not.

He's only in his late fifties, I would guess. Not much older than us! They are not giving him a very good prognosis at this time.

I actually heard him speak about a year ago. Sorry to hear about the health issues. I will be praying for him.

They still have not figured out what is causing the horrible illness, but they have determined that he's not contagious. So they have let him go home on complete bedrest, and they have made appointments for him the next couple of weeks with several doctors, including a urologist, gastrologist, etc. Hopefully they can figure out on an out-patient basis what the problem is. At least maybe now they think he's out of imminent danger!

Thanks for praying!! He's a good man.
