DA Goes to GC: Sola Skirtura, the Tuck rule & more

So last night, in bed with my wife we pretty much made an executive decision to attend General Conference this Friday night.

It was a toss up between me attending alone on Thursday nite to hear the Bishop speak and then capitalizing on the free field box tickets to the Stros game Friday nite with my lady.

Or me shelling out an extra 15 bucks and going to GC on Friday night with my lady.

Option #2 has won out.

Seems we both want to attend to see old friends and I'm willing pay for the premium entertainment.

She has already remarked that she will need to go shopping for an appropriate dress and so she now joins the cadre of ladies shopping for the gala. I saw that Dora announced on Facebook that she is in the same predicament - having bought a dress but needing to return it for fear/reverence it may not pass inspection.

That said, I totally get the "out of respect deal" ... Just not the Sola Skirtura theology.

As for me, I get to save some money. My wardrobe bill will be sending my five year old suit to the cleaners. I fully intend to tuck in my shirt as not to be confused with the "emergents among us".

Us guys have it so easy.

Updates forthcoming.

Ever the penny pincher... I guess Friday nite is the best buy. It seems we'll be getting two preachers on Home Missions nite.
Lumpkin and Tim Gaddy.

Good to see HMD saving on extra costs. 3 preachers would've been cost prohibitive.

Do you have that little soul patch beard? It goes with the emergent attitude. You will want to look relevant.

If I go, I'll be the one wearing sandals, shorts, and a Hawaiian shirt. ;)

No, I will go with the wholesome All-American look in my business suit... aka Richie Cunningham.

If I jump up and down during worship... It'll guarantee no one will come to try to pray me through

Now I'm really confused ... are there really 4 speakers that night?

The Mass Home Missions/Daughter Work Choir ...? Say that in one breath.

Directed by Sis. Bernard. Very interesting. Move over Israel Houghton.

You're not kidding. After a long work week I might be snoring after worship.

DA - - they have had multiple speakers in the past, so I'm sure they will each speak.
