Pentecostals in the news....

No, this isn't another thread about some scandal or bad news. This is some GOOD NEWS! Something rare on AFF these days but, well, we need a little fresh air......

I like what Lewis Maxfield said at the end of the article.....

“It’s basically surrendering my life so that he can live,” said Maxfield. “He loved me so much to give his only life, and this is the least I can do is to try to let him live through me.” Think that'll be my new signature line.

Amen, that should be every Christian's signature line or life.

Wow. That's close to home. I remember there was one start-up apostolic pastor a few years ago that baptized people in the river that runs by eastman chemical plant in kingsport... I hope they were upstream...

Beautiful, Praise God!

“It’s not just going through the motions,” Greene told the two converts as he prepared them for baptism.

It's always good news to see or hear of someone going down in the name of the Lord.

There is a pastor near here who believes that a person should be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ in running water. I'm not sure where he baptizes. I've never been to a baptismal service conducted by him. I've only been to his church twice. It's about an hour and a half from here and the only church I know of that is in the same organization I am in (CoJCI). First time I was there the church was packed out. A Bishop and his wife from our organization were there. The church has 21 or 22 chairs and all were filled but one. Last time I was there was on a Thursday night when I preached for him. We had a grand total of 4 people there --the pastor, me, and two members of the church.

Baptism in running/living water goes back to the early church mode.

This is a passage from Acts 15:29 of the AESV (Aramaic English Standard Version) of the Bible:

And concerning baptism, ((you shall)) baptise in this manner:
Having first taught all of these things, baptise in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, in living water.
But if you have no living water, baptise in other water ((preferably cold)); and if you cannot do so in cold water, do so in warm.
But if you have neither, pour water three times upon the head in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. ([Dalin text reads: "But if you do not have enough water, pour a little water three times on the head...."])
