Desires of the Flesh

Two part question.

1. What does "make no provision for the flesh" mean to you? Does that mean we should throw away our collection of rock cds?

2. Are lust, homosexuality and lesbianism simply sexual desires that should be overcome by our spirit and the holy ghost or are they part of our nature that will never be conquered until the resurrection? Can it be demon spirits that provoke homosexuality or is it part of someone's nature? Why would God create gay people?

God didn't create homosexual people.
Surely, you understand the nature of sin.

But, it's been a while since you asked a provocative question.

Romans 13:1 KJV - Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God.
Romans 13:2 KJV - Whosoever therefore resisteth the power, resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.
Romans 13:3 KJV - For rulers are not a terror to good works, but to the evil. Wilt thou then not be afraid of the power? do that which is good, and thou shalt have praise of the same:
Romans 13:4 KJV - For he is the minister of God to thee for good. But if thou do that which is evil, be afraid; for he beareth not the sword in vain: for he is the minister of God, a revenger to [execute] wrath upon him that doeth evil.
Romans 13:5 KJV - Wherefore [ye] must needs be subject, not only for wrath, but also for conscience sake.
Romans 13:6 KJV - For for this cause pay ye tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing.
Romans 13:7 KJV - Render therefore to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute [is due]; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honour to whom honour.
Romans 13:8 KJV - Owe no man any thing, but to love one another: for he that loveth another hath fulfilled the law.
Romans 13:9 KJV - For this, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not kill, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness, Thou shalt not covet; and if [there be] any other commandment, it is briefly comprehended in this saying, namely, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
Romans 13:10 KJV - Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love [is] the fulfilling of the law.
Romans 13:11 KJV - And that, knowing the time, that now [it is] high time to awake out of sleep: for now [is] our salvation nearer than when we believed.
Romans 13:12 KJV - The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light.
Romans 13:13 KJV - Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying.
Romans 13:14 KJV - But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to [fulfil] the lusts [thereof].
There are a number of areas covered by the verses leading up to this verse. I think it should be taking as non specifically as it is expressed. In all general terms... make no provision for the flesh and the lusts thereof.

I don't believe God creates sinful people but we are all born with a human/sinful nature and are "by nature" the children of wrath (Ephesians 2:1-10)

In my opinion, the desires of the flesh is our old nature which we will live in until it is transformed at the resurrection where we will take on immortality and incorruption. We received a new nature at our new birth and became new creatures but we will still have a battle between our "old man" or "human nature" and our "new man" or spiritual nature." I think this battle is described in Romans chapters 6, 7, and 8 and in Galatians 5:16-26

Re: Desires of the Flesh

I believe anything sinful is first attractive to the flesh. We are drawn away of our own lusts. But any single sin can be instigated and worsened by a demon spirit. I believe there is a spirit that enters a person for any given sin that is indulged in to a certain degree due to fleshly weakness. The demon does not cause the problem, but takes advantage of it and worsens it. It's like they see a person sinning, and say, "Ahhh, another opportunity to enter someone's life and possess them." I think demon spirits also tempt people to sin, but that is only because the FLESH first and foremost lusts for such a sin. And they tempt a person so they can eventually gain entry into that life.

But any sin, no matter what it is, can be resisted in the power of the Holy Ghost and conquered thereby.

So true...God gives us the power of choice...and the knowledge to know what is best...the flesh must die every day...not an easy thing to do...
