Friends of the Bride...

Not sure if this has been discussed in depth here, but thought this would be a good way to start the week.

One of my brothers is a UPCI pastor, and he and I were discussing this last night. He said he is running into several ministers in the org who believe that the FOTB will be those from other denominations who have received the Holy Ghost or are living good lives before Christ.

I told him I know of an elder right here in this city who teaches this as fact, saying, "What bride doesn't have attendants?!"

What do y'all think about the FOTB and who will they be?!

Strictly extrabiblical .... but what can you expect from some in the OP circles?

My take?
FOTB will be Old Testament Saints who though being saved, were not filled with the Holy Ghost as they have been for the past two thousand years.

That is my brother's opinion also...

My feelings exactly. NO FOTB in NT church age.

Does anyone have anything further to add?! I mean, where do people come up with this view?! How popular was it in days gone by or is it a modern day invention?!

You don't want me to comment. :)

I wouldn't have posted this if I didn't want to hear from everyone.

Esther 05-07-2007 08:32 AM

Is there a scripture that talks about the FOTB?

Barb, I know a few very highly respected Apostolic leaders that secretly believe FOTB theology. It is not really a new phenomona as far as I know.

I truthfully believe that for one to come to that doctrine, there must be a very clear misunderstanding of the what is the church in all ages from the begining. Much of the misunderstand also is derived from erroneous concepts of what is Israel.

The complexety of these doctrines are so tangled that it would be almost impossible to go back from the beginning to comb all the tangles out it it.

JMHO, of course...with the emphasis on M, H and O.
