PHILADELPHIA (AP) - A Philadelphia abortion doctor has been charged with eight counts of murder in the deaths of a woman patient and seven babies that prosecutors say were born alive and then killed with scissors.

The charges against Dr. Kermit Gosnell follow a long grand jury investigation.

Disgusting...but the hypocrisy of the public's shock and dismay at such incidents annoys me. If he had killed the babies moments earlier, while they were still inside the mother, it wouldn't have made the news and he wouldn't have been prosecuted. (Assuming that these weren't otherwise restricted late-term abortions.)

Horrible.

Miss B. I would think these would have had to be late term abortions, because a fetus cannot live outside the womb for more than a short time. (I know, because I am counting down to V-day in my pregnancy, that would be viability day, the day that my little girl could possible survive outside the womb)

The method and tool for killing described is the same as partial birth abortion.

Many years ago, it was argued women were dying by the thousands from back alley abortions. Women are still dyiing from legal abortions.

Isn't it just totally unreal that it is a federal offense to destroy an eagle egg but yet it is ok to kill an unborn baby.

Have we got to the place that babies are just a nusiance and something to destroy if they cause us a problem.

The destroying of the "fetus" or more accurately the baby, using this doctor's method, on "late term abortions", more accurately partial birth abortions, where the "doctor", more accurately murders, using scissors to pierce and sever the spinal core has been standard practice in abortion slaughterhouses!!!

This is the most disgusting thing imaginable in "civilized" cultures!! For these reasons I have no sympathy for the untimely passing of "Dr. Tiller, the baby killer." I hope this doctor is put out of business permanently, and I perfer the law do their job rather than vigilantes breaking the law.

Mitch, we are happily awaiting the birth of our first grand child, due next month, may your new daughter be extremely healthy and a great blessing to you.

It takes a might cold hearted person to half deliver a baby then take scissors and sever its spinal cord.

The Bible saids we will stand before the judgement bar of God and he will judge each and every one of us. I wonder if the punishment for a person that does things like this will be greater.

You're right; I heard more on the news last night, and they were late term abortions.
