False Doctrine Part 1 - How To Stop Sinning

http://martynballestero.com/2011/01/...g-for-dummies/

Quote:

* Can I actually stop sinning? YES!
* Don’t I need the Holy Ghost to stop sinning? NO!

SINNING IS A CHOICE

* No one makes you.
* You do it because you want to.
* The Bible says you can quit.

QUITTING IS EASY

* Even a Dummy can quit.
* No experience required.
* No 12-step program required.
This is where moralism gets you. One thing he said was true and false at the same time. Working at being better can be done without the Spirit (that's moralism). But pleasing God, ending the reign of the old man is only done through the Spirit.

Then...

Quote:

TO STOP SINNING IS NOT ENOUGH

* You must be Born Again
* You can’t go to Heaven unless you are.
The instructions are to stop sinning and be born again. Is this the GOSPEL???????????????

Re: False Doctrine Part 1 - How To Stop Sinning

Sin is a compulsion in the flesh that is far more than a choice. Paul said that he chose to do good but evil was present in him and he did not have the power to do good instead of sin.

I believe so long as we walk after the Spirit, we will not fulfill the lusts of the flesh and sin. But it is quite a hard thing to learn and certainly cannot be done without the HOLY GHOST! How can we walk after the Spirit without having the Spirit?

:thumbsup

And "walking in the Spirit" means trusting in, relying in, depending on the Spirit to work through me (not me working for the Spirit).

To all those who believe he gives the power to be the Sons of God. We are adopted, justified, made righteous, drawn to God, redeemed and saved by the Spirit. It's all a work of the Holy Spirit :thumbsup

It's not often they put their theology out there in such black and white.

What a burden this "gospel" is he presents.... what a lousy king he announces.

And some of the people on this forum wonder why the conservatives left and started their own forum.
See the above for details.
There are ways to have a civil debate without using personal attacks.
Do you treat everyone that you disagree with in such a fashion?
Do you believe that this person is saved?
Do you believe that this person is a sinner?
Either way, there is no call for a behind the back attack.

Are blogs and websites no longer appropriate resources to use for discussion?

This brother conveyed the subject of sin makes the Gospel look like an "add-on." It's not true. It's false. Did you want to contribute to the discussion, aegsm76?

OMG

The culmination of a movement that has embraced Pelagianism.

It was a matter of time.
