Almost saved- so near and yet so far

So near and yet so far.

Power went out a couple weeks ago so I went by the local Dennys to grab a bite and read.

Even from a distance the family which walked in was obviously Apostolic.

The mother and daughter had long hair to the middle of their backs, and the man was dressed nice and with a long sleeved shirt.

I instantly felt that rush when you unexpectedly come across a fellow Apostolic.

Then they got closer.

First the light caught the small diamond earrings mom was wearing, as the man got closer and I was able to see full profile I noticed he was sporting a mustache, and to top it all off when the daughter went by even though her hair was to the middle of her back it was obvious she had trimmed it in a straight line.

So near and yet so far.

Unfortunately there is no such thing as almost saved

And then again, there is no such thing as salvation by works either.

No there is no salvation by works, but there are works AFTER salvation.

Show me your faith without your works and I will show you

My faith by my works...

Or as it says in the NIV James 2:18

But someone will say, "You have faith; I have deeds." Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do.

Faith without works is dead

Who can be saved with dead faith?

Your words betray your last posting. Your salvation is by works, not works following salvation. So many live without grace.

So you believe in eternal security?

Works don't save anybody.

Disobedience will ........ anybody.

I believe that salvation is a work of God, that as we are drawn by the Father, we come to repentance of sins, faith in Christ alone for forgiveness of sin, and security is the justification of faith in Christ alone. As a believer, we will sin, seeing how we are still in mortal flesh. But, the evidence of our conversion is a perseverence in the faith, that those who do sin will have the convicting power of the Spirit to draw them to repentance. If the conviction is there, it is a sign of God working in the life of a believer. If not, then that is a sign of the believer not being in the hand of God, and their conversion was more than likely false, and just a convincing work of the flesh.

To answer your question in specifics, yes, I do believe in eternal security, but not as some teach it. I believe the same Spirit which regenerates the believer also keeps the believer, and conforms the believer's walk in Christ. Sin will arise, but the Spirit is at work in convicting of sin.

Funny thread.

Let's just pick the mustache... This is indicative of the absence of salvation???
