Favorite Study Bibles.

Most bible readers and bible students have a bible that they use for devotional and casual reading and then they have one they cherish for study.

What is your favorite study bible, and why ? I have a small bible collection and I enjoy hearing what bibles other use and favor ?

King James because basically that what I grew up with, memorized as a child; so it's easier to find my scriptures from words that are in my head from the KJV.

I love The Holman bibles. I read different translations.I use The Holman Bibles for study because they have center column references.
BeenThinking do you have a preference like Thompson Chain Nelson,Ryrie Scofield or one like that ?

Thompson Chain, for all of it's references and helps. May not agree with all of the helps, but what's new! Also like Scofield.

I used the Oxford Wide Margin Study Bible for many years when I was preaching and teaching every week. The column references were good - but pretty standard. That's where the wide margins came in. Over time I transposed much of RA Torry's Treasure of Scriptural Knowledge cross references along with my Greek word studies and a great deal of OP doctrinal material.

I own a Thompson Chain, and it's great but I love The Center Column reference bibles the most. It's just personal preference but the way the Thompson Chain is laid out is not my cup of tea.I love comparing the scripture with scripture.

Currently I am reading the bible all the way through using The Holman Christian Standard version,I'm certainly not KJV only.I do own quite a few KJV bibles though.

I have a study Bible that has a page for personal notes for every page of text. It's my absolute favorite, and I've never been able to find another quite like it. For reference I use Biblios (http://bible.cc)

The Southern Baptist convention owns the Holman publishing house, but you can buy a good genuine leather bound bible that's doesn't have commentary in it and they are very resonably priced . I have several Holman KJVS I think about 3 of those,I have. I own a Holman bible in NIV,and NASB as well.

I like The Nelson open bibles too. I have KJV and NKJV open bible. I own several Cambridge KJVS.
