Do You Preach Braids Are A Sin?

1Ti 2:9 likewise also that women should adorn themselves in respectable apparel, with modesty and self-control, not with braided hair and gold or pearls or costly attire,

1Pe 3:3 Do not let your adorning be external--the braiding of hair and the putting on of gold jewelry, or the clothing you wear--

I knew several preaches who did.

One even preached that it represented the trinity. :dunno

If that wasn't so sad, it would be funny.

I've known of preachers that did. :girlytantrum

Being more practical that spiritual it always seemed to be a rather unreasonable demand. It's challenging enough to fix long hair for an 8 yr old and then to be told .....oh, btw , you can't braid your hair; it's a sin.

One preacher I know later saw the light and changed his teaching.

I think anyone who preaches anything about hair in any way has some kind of misunderstanding of the scripture or some kind of problem.

I knew at least one pastor who taught against braiding. Same one preached against any visible hair accessories (barrettes, pony tail holders, hair pins, etc).

Some preach against curling it, too.

Well, of course.

If God gave you straight hair it would be wrong for you to change it by curling it, and if God gave you curly hair it would be wrong to change it by straightening it.

Also, remember, the prophet Isaiah spoke against well set hair, mirrors (glasses), and sweet smells (perfume/cologne), so --- don't none of you sistas be looking in a mirror and "fixing" your hair and don't put on any "smell good." That's all artificial and contrary to the way God made you look and smell.
