Do You Believe in Women Pastors?

:lol

No seriously... many of you have been fine with women preachers, arguing with RDP over the 2 scriptures he cites. Curious if your viewpoint changes when it comes to women as pastoring elders. If so, what do you base that on?

That's why I clarified in my opening post,

"Do you understand women pastoring elders" to be consistent with the biblical model and with biblical teaching?

Not my preference, for sure. Not 100% opposed, but it would have to be special circumstances and I'd have to be personally convinced that God was in it before I would submit myself to a woman pastor. I think God has equipped men to be leaders in the church and women to be leaders in the home. Sometimes there's some crossover, but I believe that's the ideal reflected in scripture.

Pastoring is an authoritative position, and requires some stereotypical masculine traits to be successful. In addition to that, pastoring comes with requirements of your schedule and lifestyle that might detract from a woman fulfilling her obligations to her husband, children and home. Far better for a woman to use excess time for good works in the community, IMO.

Other than that, I just don't like a woman boss. :D It rubs me the wrong way. I can't imagine men responding much better in most cases. To that end, it's impractical.

Maybe you should have an admin edit the poll title to this or something along those lines...

Interesting.

What scriptures support this ideal?

It's a little lengthy. But it should be assumed that this is what I have in mind, right? :)
