More PC going to far
The outrage began one night in October 2007 when David Stewart, the theater’s white manager, told the crowd to silence cell phones before the screening.
Juana Fuentes-Bowles, then the of Delaware’s Human Relations Division, was in the audience and stood up and told the crowd that his remarks were racist. Delaware’s Human Relations Division website says its mission is to “ensure equal opportunity for all people” by protecting against practices that discriminate based on race and color. Based on those principles, the committee ruled that Stewart’s conduct violated the state’s equal accommodation law. In turn, each of the complainants were to be awarded $1,500 in damages. |

Why this theater manager attempted to apologies is beyond me, lawsuit or not. This is as bad as the Toyota ad which ran a few times in some magazines during the 90's which showed a lone car driving into the distance with the caption "Unlike your last boyfriend, it will go to work everyday" to paraphrase. A number of black civil rights groups decried it as racist as well.
Or a lawsuit in San Fran when they tried playing classical music at certain places where young people loitered. They charged that classical music unfairly targeted blacks who only listened to rap. |

*sigh*
Psalms 119:165 Great peace have they which love thy law: and nothing shall offend them. The ignorance is mind boggling. But... It gets you what you want to be offended. It gets you money to be offended. It gets you attention to be offended. So... it is in style to be offended at every move. |

Re: More PC going to far
Being Jewish and growing up in the 50's there were pictures of Jesus in the hall ways of the public school I attended. The 10 Commandments were posted, the teacher prayed every morning and there were Bible's visable.
We sang "Silent Night" at the "Christmas" play, just before the "Christmas" break. And yep, we also had "Easter" vacation. Not one single time was I offended. Why? Because nobody taught me to be offended. The PC nonsense was off in the distance, so I got to grow up singing "Silent Night" in the "Christmas" play at school and had a blast! |

Man these posts are getting good. You are so right. Thanks for the post. Being offended over every little thing is, indeed, a taught characteristic. |
