If Bill Clinton had his way, there would be an Internet agency created by the U.S. government or United Nations to debunk malicious rumors that originate and spread online.

"Let's just say the U.S. did it. It would have to be an independent federal agency that no president could countermand or anything else because people wouldn't think you were just censoring the news and giving a different falsehood out," he said.

"That is, it would be like, I don't know, National Public Radio or BBC or something like that, except it would have to be really independent and they would not express opinions, and their mandate would be narrowly confined to identifying relevant factual errors," he said.

Knowledge has always been dangerous to the elite. Just look at how the Roman Church resisted the scriptures being translated into common languages. The internet threatens those in power because it levels the playing field. The secrets that Wikileaks exposed were not protesting us. They were protecting those in power that are doing evil in the name of our country.

Right now the enter net is a door that the word of good can go through but it is one that won't satay open long. Lets work while it is day because night is coming.

They are ticked that first we had the fairness doctrine, which meant they couldnt put garbage out there and not have it proven wrong on the same forum and then dan rather pulled his stunt and would have gotten away with it except, bingo, now its internet time and you can bust them in less than a 24 hr news cycle,so now they really want to control the internet.

95% of all the media in the US is controlled by just five multi-national corporations. There is very little independent left. Hosea says

Hosea 4:6 my people are destroyed from lack of knowledge....

This has never been more true than now. The founding fathers said that democracy requires a well informed citizenry. That makes the press or the media the forth estate (the forth branch of the government) Media that is beholding to their corporate over lords will always hide the evil that their corporations are doing and even worse promote false stories to muddy the waters in order to keep people arguing and not acting. They will talk about oil jobs lost instead dolphins washing up on the shores or fishing jobs lost because big oil is pays for their air time. Is it any wonder they want to shut down NPR and take control of the internet?

Actually canam Dan Rather would have been vindicated had his suit gone to trial. It never did. The net is replete with evidence that Rather's story is true.
